Do not grieve that the Lord is testing you and putting you to the ordeal of undergoing the tests, for it is only when you are tested that you can assure yourself of success or become aware of your limitations. You can then concentrate on the subjects in which you are deficient and pay more intensive attention, so that you can pass in them too when you are tested again. Good students don’t study for the examination at the last moment; they study well in advance and be ready with the needed knowledge and the courage and confidence born out of that knowledge and skill. What you have studied well in advance must be revised over and over in the mind, just before going to the examination; that is all the preparation that is necessary! This is the pathway to victory.

It is essential to develop an intimate relationship with God. You will be charged with divine energy when you achieve connection with Divinity. Living in the company of God is true good company (Satsanga). Satsangatve Nissangatvam, Nissangatve Nirmohatvam, Nirmohatve Nischalatatvam, Nischalatatve Jivanmukti (Good company leads to detachment, detachment makes one free from delusion, freedom from delusion leads to steadiness of mind and steadiness of mind confers liberation). But today one does not have a steady mind. All the time the mind wavers like a mad monkey. When you say, ‘my body’, ‘my mind’, ‘my Buddhi’, etc., all these are different from you. Then question yourself, who am I? The same principle of ‘I’ is present in everybody, right from a pauper to a millionaire. In order to understand this ‘I’ principle, you have to develop the spirit of sacrifice.

Why is ashanti (peacelessness) harassing the world? Because of raga, dwesha and moha (attachment, hate and infatuation). These are born out of ignorance, which causes delusion. Things seen in darkness cannot be clear; they are mistaken for something else. A rope is mistaken to be a snake; a stump is mistaken to be a thief. A piece of glass may be coveted as a diamond. So, this mistaken notion, this indistinct light, must go. It can go only if methods of discovering the truth are learnt. That is what the Shastras (scriptures) teach and what the Pandits (learned scholars) are commissioned to instruct you. They will tell you that the outward-seeking senses must be directed inwards; the inner realm of impulses, instincts, habits, prejudices, attitudes must be cleansed before God is reflected clear and bright therein.

A country does not mean a piece of earth.

A country does not mean a piece of earth. People make a country. And transformation should not be one dimensional. It is the entire process of refinement by which people get rid of their bad thoughts and actions, and cultivate good thoughts and do good acts in daily life. The value of a person is not derived from his or her educational qualifications alone. The cultural refinement of one’s lifestyle is also essential. A life without culture is like a house without light. A person without culture is like a stringless kite, which is tossed hither and thither. An education bereft of culture is worthless like a counterfeit coin. What is meant by culture? It is the realisation of the inherent Divinity in man and making it manifest in one's way of life.

A millionaire pays income-tax with tears in the eyes; a headmaster joyfully gives up the furniture and laboratory appliances of his school when transferred to another location. Why? Because the headmaster knows that he is only the caretaker, not the owner. He is not attached to these articles; he knows that they belong to the government. So, too, feel that your family, your house, your fields, your car, are all the Lord's property and that you are only the trustee; be ready to give them up without a murmur at a moment's notice. You must give up your pursuit of sensory objects if you seek lasting peace and joy. Material wealth brings along with it, not only joy but grief as well. Accumulation of riches, multiplication of wants - these lead only to alternation between joy and grief. Attachment is the root of both joy and grief; detachment is the saviour. Attachment (Asakthi) is death (maraka); non-attachment (anasakthi) is like a saviour (taraka)!

Speech is charged with tremendous power. When, through speech, we communicate to a person something that upsets their balance or shocks them into grief, the words completely drain off their physical strength and mental courage. The person falls on the ground, mentally unable to stand their ground. On the other hand, when, through speech, we communicate something happy or unexpectedly cheering, the person gets the strength of an elephant. Words don’t cost anything but they are priceless. So, they have to be used with care. They must be employed not for gossip, which is barren, but for pure and productive purposes only. The ancients recommended the vow of silence in order to purify speech of its evils. A mind turned inward toward an inner vision of God and speech turned outward toward outer vision of the Lord — both will promote spiritual strength and success.

To adore Name and Form is against the basic teaching of Vedanta; for, you must educate yourself into ignoring the evanescent, temporary and superficial. Unless you have discovered your identity with all, and the identity of all within oneself, you cannot win the waveless calmness, the steady flame! Give up the fancy for the fantastic objective world, give up until you reach the stage, when there is no "giver-gift-giving," when there is no "beginning-continuing-ending." Sage Narada learnt from sage Sanathkumara that he can acquire Shanti (peace) only when he knows that he is an embodiment of Shanti! Ashanti (restlessness) is something that possesses one like a phobia which has no grounding! Shake it off! You are free! It is the role that is tragic; not the actor! Remind yourself that it is a play and that you are playing the role of a tragic hero! Sage Narada learnt this and his equanimity was never again disturbed!

The point of view is most often warped; the direction in which thought flows is, ‘How much can I get out of all this, what benefit can I derive from membership, how beneficial it will be for my status, profession, and contacts.’ This has to be changed full circle. The problem should be framed as: ‘How much can I give my fellowmen through this membership? What can I contribute to the fulfilment of its ideals?’ All are eager to take, none is earnest about giving. The reason is absence of love; love that transcends caste, creed, colour, and the fences erected by man between men. Fill your hearts with love, distribute that love to all. Love grows with every gift of love; remember, the heart that pours out love is ever full! God is present in your heart as Love and you are only drawing from Him, when sharing with others. Expansion is love; expansion is life. Contraction is death!

When your mind is filled with good thoughts, such as truth, love, forbearance and compassion, your life will be filled with peace and serenity

Mere spinning like a top, until you can spin no longer, and then falling helpless and inert, is dreary devastating existence. The top has no faith in itself; it has to be handled and twirled by another. Be self-confident, that is to say, have confidence in your Self. For, that Self is divine; it has in it all the strength, all the sweetness of the Atman, which is but a wave of the ocean of Paramatman (Supreme Reality). In order to ensure happiness and peace, administrators contrive five-year plans, and build bridges, dams, factories and schools. But without the cleansing of the spirit, the strengthening of detachment, the promotion of compassion and kinship, economic progress promotes only hatred, faction and envy. Self-confidence, self-control and self-knowledge - these alone can lead man to peace and joy.

Resolve to emulate those who do better than yourself and earn equal appreciation. Strive to acquire knowledge, wisdom and success that you aspire, righteously. That is the real ambition. Instead, if you wish for the downfall of others who are successful, that very intent reveals your brutish nature. It will lead you to perdition for sure. Praising oneself and condemning others are also as deadly as envy. Attempting to hide one’s meanness and wickedness, wearing the mask of goodness, justifying one’s faults and exaggerating one’s attainments — these are also definitely poisonous traits. Equally poisonous is the habit of ignoring the good in others and assiduously seeking only their faults. Never speak words that demean anyone. When we are friendly with someone and like them, whatever they do is certain to strike us as good. When the wind changes and the same person is disliked, even the good they do feels wrongful to us. Both these reactions are not commendable!

There are many who ridicule yogis (God-centred) as anti-social idlers who run away from their obligations and seek asylum in solitude and silence. But being near does not ensure usefulness. Being far does not imply uselessness. Viruses enter the very blood stream and surely, nothing can be nearer to you; yet, they are mortal enemies. Members of the same family are envious and suspicious of one another. It is not being near that counts. These yogis moved out into lonely spots and sought teachers of the inner path, much as young technicians do today, going abroad in order to learn skills that will help to build a better India. They go to seek the secret of eternal joy; they win it for themselves; and by their lives, they inspire others to win the precious secret. No one calls the man who has gone abroad to equip oneself better, as an engineer or doctor, selfish; why then should the man who undergoes greater deprivations to equip oneself better as an engineer of the mind, utilising its undoubted powers, not for bondage, but for liberation, be tarred as ego-centric? This only shows ignorance of true values.

No enemy can be so insidious as jealousy. It is a deadly virus. When one sees another more powerful, more knowledgeable, or with greater reputation, more wealth or more beauty, or even wearing better clothing, one is afflicted with jealousy. You may find it difficult to acknowledge and accept the situation. The mind seeks means to demean them and lower them in the estimation of people. This will pollute your character. Such propensities and evil tendencies should never strike root in the minds of pious and virtuous. Be ever vigilant that “envy-demon” does not possess you. Envy destroys all that is precious in you; it ruins your health and damages your digestive system. It even robs you of sleep, saps your physical and mental stamina and reduces you to the state of chronic consumptives! Hence, be happy and joyful when others are acclaimed as good and are respected for virtues and ideals they hold dear. Cultivate broad outlook and pure motives only.

Remembrance of the Lord's name is the method of crossing over the ocean of the worldly life for this age; remembering the Lord by means of His Name is enough to save man. The Lord is Aanandamaya (of the nature of Bliss); He is also Aananda (divine bliss), which is to be tasted through the Name. It is Sat-Chit-Ananda (Being-Awareness-Bliss Absolute). You may doubt whether such a small word like Rama or Sai or Krishna can take you across the boundless sea of worldly life. People cross vast oceans on a tiny raft; they are able to walk through dark jungles with a tiny lamp in their hands. The raft need not be as big as the sea. The Name, even the Pranava (Om) which is smaller, has vast potentialities. The recitation of the Name is like the operation of boring, to tap underground water; it is like the chisel-stroke that will release the image of God imprisoned in the marble. Break the encasement and the Lord will appear.

Good Character is built through the constant practice of good actions.

The root cause of all anxieties and calamities of humanity is envy. In Bhagavad Gita Krishna warns, “Arjuna! You must be envy-less. Don’t get infected by envy.” Envy is invariably accompanied by hatred. These are twin villains like poisonous pests. They attack the very roots of one’s personality. A tree may be resplendent with flowers and fruits. But when the inimical worms set to work on the roots, imagine what happens to its splendour! Even as we look on admiringly at the tree’s beauty, its flowers fade, fruits fall off, and its leaves turn yellow and are scattered by the wind. At last, the tree dries up, it dies and falls! So too, when envy and hatred infect the heart and set to work, however intelligent and however highly educated one is, one falls! Hence learn to be happy and filled with joy when others are acclaimed as good and are respected for their virtues and ideals they hold dear!

Today, man is in search of happiness and in the process is becoming a slave to happiness. Happiness should become a slave to you.

The Samudra-manthana (churning of the ocean) has great value for you because you too must churn the ocean of your heart and win immortal nectar for yourself. Your heart filled with satwa guna (purity and poise) is the ocean of milk. The steady contemplation of God, either as your own reality or as an ideal to be reached, is the Mandara mountain placed in it as the churning rod. Vasuki, the serpent that was wound around the churning rod as a rope, is the collection of all your senses. The rope (your senses) is held by both good and bad impulses, and both struggle through the churning process; eager for the results which each one of them set their heart on. The wise wait patiently for the appearance of the immortal Lord, with steady zeal and interest. The Grace of God is the tortoise Incarnation, for the Lord Himself comes to the rescue, once He knows that you are earnestly seeking the secret of Immortality: He comes, silently and unobserved, as the tortoise did, holding the manana (reflection) process unimpaired and serving as the steady base of all spiritual practice.

The word surrender has been misinterpreted and people promote idleness in the name of surrender. We think that our mind, thought, and body have been surrendered to the Lord. Your mind is not under your own control and under such circumstances, how can you hold it and give it to the Lord? You have no control over your own body. If you have a small cut, blood oozes from your body and you run to a doctor. If this is your body and if you have complete control over it, why is it that you are not able to control the outflow of the blood? That being the case, to say that you have surrendered your mind and body to the Lord is a statement which is untrue. This word ‘surrender’ conveys that there is someone who gives and someone who accepts, and that you are surrendering to someone. There is a feeling of duality implied in this word surrender. The true meaning of surrender is the recognition of the fact that in everyone and everywhere God is present.

Consider all your acts as worship. Duty is God, Work is Worship. Whatever happens, accept it gladly as His handiwork, and as a sign of His compassion

Humanness is a combination of the body and consciousness. One has to embark on self-scrutiny as the first step in spirituality. Only then the reality can be comprehended. No one undertakes self-examination, though everyone is ready to condemn others. Only the person who is prepared to examine and punish himself for his lapses is competent to judge others. Students and devotees should realise that control of the senses is quite simple. What is necessary is not to encourage negative feelings when they arise and adopt positive attitudes. For instance, Buddha confronted the anger of a demon with his love and transformed him. Many students today are subject to depression and are confused in mind. The reason for this is their weakness owing to lack of self-confidence. When there is total faith in God, then there will be no room for depression.

Love is vital. Love is supreme. Pure Love is Divine. Practice sharing selfless Love in daily living.

Cultivate love for God. Puranas (scriptures) and ancient sages have declared that the Divine incarnates to punish the wicked and protect the good. This is not correct. God incarnates to inculcate love in mankind and teach how love should be cultivated and practiced. Only when such love is developed people will be free from sorrow and trouble. Sins will be wiped out and fear will cease to haunt. The essence of all religions, all teachings and spiritual paths is only one thing: Love. Develop that Divine Love. Above all, whatever be your difficulties, whatever be the ordeals you have to undergo in any situation, do not give up God. God is One. Whether you are affluent or destitute, whether you are a scholar or an ignoramus, no matter whatever troubles you may be faced with or whatever spiritual practices you may adopt, whether you are regarded as a sinner or a saint, do not give up God ever, and realise that God is One.

The power of faith is illustrated in an incident from the life of Christ. Once a blind man approached Jesus and prayed: "Lord! Restore my sight." Jesus asked him: "Do you believe that I can restore your sight?” "Yes, Lord!" the man said. "If that is so, then open your eyes and see," said Jesus. The blind man opened his eyes and got his sight. Likewise, people pray to Swami to give something or other. Do you believe that I have the power to give what you seek? My response is dependent on your faith. People today are like an individual standing on the ground wishing to see the pilot of a plane moving in the sky. The only way the person can see the pilot is by getting into the plane. To experience God you have to aspire for a vision of God. That is the way to lead an ideal and blissful life.

Prayer does not mean petitioning to God. Prayer is an index of the experience of Atmic bliss; it’s a method to experience this bliss, share it and be immersed in it. Prayers must emanate from the heart. Prayer that is not heartfelt is utterly useless. The Lord will accept a heart without words, but He will not accept words and prayers that are not sincere and heart-felt. In fact, God Himself is described as Lord of the Heart (Hridayesha). Only when you have firm faith in this, you will be able to manifest your divinity. Regard your body as a temple in which the Trinity - Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara reside. There are no separate places like Vaikunta or Kailash where they dwell. These are delusions born out of ignorance. God is inside you, outside you, and around you. Don’t doubt this. If you doubt this, you cannot experience peace or happiness! Firmly recognise this truth and live accordingly.

The Supreme Lord has given you an unbroken garland of all the good and bad you accumulated from previous lives. Since birth, this invisible garland is worn by everyone around their neck, even though one cannot physically see this. The fruits of whatever good or bad you may have done in your past, has come with you when you are born. By doing a good act, you will not get an evil result and by doing a bad act, you will not accumulate good. Whatever kind of work you do, the result will correspond to that kind of work. Therefore, from today, make up your mind to do only good things and thus you will reap, in your future lives, the benefit of good things only! To imagine and to deceive ourselves into thinking that there is no one seeing us do a bad thing, is incorrect. God (Brahman) is present within your own heart and is always functioning as a witness!

பயம் கவலைகளை விட்டு நிம்மதியாக வாழுங்கள் ! கர்ம காலம் முடிவுக்கு வந்து விட்டால் கரோனா என்ன ஒரு புல் கூட உன் மரணத்துக்கு காரணமாகி விடும். படைத்த ஆண்டவனே நினைத்தால் கூட உங்களை காப்பாற்ற முடியாது.

கர்ம காலம் முடியாததால் நேருக்கு நேர் துப்பாக்கியால் சுட்டுக்கொண்ட MGR & MR ராதா இருவருமே சாகவில்லை ! ஆனால் கட்டுமஸ்தான உடல்  பெற்ற முத்துராமன் ஊட்டியில் காலையில் jogging போகும் போது புல்தரையில் வழுக்கி கீழே விழுந்து மரணமடைந்தார்.

 மகாபாரதத்திலும் இதற்கான உதாரணம் உண்டு. பாண்டவர்களின் பாரம்பரியத்தில் ஆட்சி புரிந்த பரீட்சித் மகாராஜா தன் வாழ்க்கை இன்னும் ஒரு வாரத்தில் முடிய போகிறது அதுவும் நாகம் தீண்டி சம்பவிக்கும் என்பதை முன் கூட்டியே தெரிந்து அதிலிருந்து தப்ப மிகுந்த பாதுகாப்புடன் இருந்தும் ஏழாம் நாள் அவர் பூஜை செய்யும் பூவிலிருந்தோ பழத்திலிருந்தோ வெளிப்பட்ட ஒரு பூநாகம் தீண்டி உயிரிழந்தார் !

 அதனால் நம் கர்ம காலம் முடியும் வரை எதனாலும் நம்மை கொல்லமுடியாது என்ற முழு நம்பிக்கையுடன் பயமில்லாமல் வாழுங்கள் ! பயமே பல நோய்களுக்கு காரணமாகி விடும் !

கொத்தமல்லியின் மருத்துவ பயன்கள்:

கொத்தமல்லியின் இலை, தண்டு, வேர் அனைத்தும் மருத்துவப் பயன் கொண்டவை. சாம்பார், ரசம் போன்ற தமிழர் சமையலில் இதன் விதைகள் பயன்படுகின்றன. கொத்தமல்லி விதையை தனியா என்றும் அழைக்கின்றனர்.

கொத்தமல்லி இலையை தினமும் அளவோடு உணவில் சேர்துக்கொள்வது மிகவும் நல்லது அது நரம்பு, எலும்பு மற்றும் தசை மண்டலங்களில் ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகளை குணமாக்கும். இது நன்கு பசியைத் தூண்டும் ஒரு மூலிகைத் தாவரம். வாயு பிரச்சனையை குணமாக்கும்.

கொத்தமல்லி இலையில் உள்ள கால்சியம், இரும்பு உள்ளிட்ட சத்துக்கள் இணைந்து செயலாற்றும்போது, ரத்தக் குழாய்களில் உள்ள அழுத்தம் நீங்கி, ஓய்வு பெறுகிறது. இதன்மூலம், இரத்த அழுத்தம் கட்டுக்குள் இருப்பதுடன் மாரடைப்பு, இதய நோய்க்கான வாய்ப்பும் குறைகிறது.

கர்ப்பிணிகள் கர்ப்பம் தரித்த மாதத்தில் இருந்து சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால் குழந்தை மிக ஆரோக்கியமாக வளரும். குழந்தையின் எலும்புகள், பற்கள் உறுதி அடையும். கொத்தமல்லி இலையில் இரும்புச்சத்து இருப்பதால், இரத்த சோகை வருவதற்கான வாய்ப்புக் குறைகிறது. உடலின் ஆற்றலை அதிகரிக்க, எலும்புகளின் ஆரோக்கியத்துக்கு, உறுப்புக்களின் இயல்பான இயக்கத்துக்கு என்று பெரிதும் உதவுகிறது. நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தியை அதிகரிக்கிறது.

மகாபாரதத்தில் கர்ணன் செய்த தவறுகள் என்னென்ன?

துரியோதனிடம் பல நற்குணங்கள் இருந்தன. ஆனால் அவனுடைய சேர்க்கை அவனை அகல பாதாளத்தில் கொண்டு நிறுத்தியது. கர்ணன், சகுனி போன்றவர்களின் துர்போதனையினால் துரியோதன் தோற்று உயிரிழந்தான்.

கர்ணன் சாதாரண குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து துரியோதன் உதவியால் அங்க நாட்டு ராஜா ஆனான். துரியோதனின் மிக நெருங்கிய நண்பன் அவன். பல வகை அனுபவங்களும் பெற்றவன். ஒரு உண்மையான நண்பன் தக்க சமயத்தில் சிறந்த ஆலோசனை புரிந்து தவறான பாதையில் இருந்து நற்பாதைக்கு இழுக்க வேண்டும். இதை கர்ணன் செய்தானா?

1. துரியோதனன் பாண்டவர்களை அரக்கு மாளிகைக்கு அழைத்து கொடூரமாக தீயிலட முயன்றான். கர்ணன் தடுத்தானா? மாறாக இதற்கு துணை போனான்.

2. சகுனி ஏற்றப்பட்ட பகடை கொண்டு தர்மரை வென்றான். கர்ணன் தடுத்தானா? மாறாக இதற்கு துணை போனான்.

3. பாஞ்சாலி மானம் காக்க முயன்றபோது கர்ணன் காத்தானா? மாறாக பழைய கோவம் கொண்டும் அவளை அவமானப்படுத்தினான். ஒரு சிறு பெண் பல நாள் முன்னர் கிண்டல் செய்தற்காக அவளை அவமானம் படுத்துவதா தர்மம். இதுவா ஒரு ராஜாவிற்கு அழகு? இப்படி ஒரு பெண்ணிற்கு பங்கம் விளைக்கும் இவனா பெரிய மனிதன்?

4. பாண்டவர்கள் அஞ்ஞான வாசம் முடிந்து வரும்போது பரமாத்மா கிருஷ்ணன் தூது வந்து வெறும் 5 கிராமம் கேட்டான். பெரியவர்கள் எல்லாம் இதனை எடுக்க அறிவுரை செய்த பொழுது, கர்ணன் போரிற்காக கர்ஜித்தான். தேவையில்லாத போர் மூண்டு கவுரவர்கள் பூண்டோடு அழிந்தனர்.

5. பாண்டவர்களுக்கு பரமாத்மாவே துணை புரிந்தார். இது எல்லா பெரியவர்களும் தெரியும். ஆனால் கர்ணன் இது தெரியாமல், துரியோதனனுக்கு அதி நம்பிக்கை கொடுத்தான். பாண்டவர்களின் வலிமையை துச்சமாக நினைத்து குறைத்து மதிப்பிட்டான். இந்த ஆணவம் தோல்விக்கு பாதை வகித்தது.

கர்ணன் ஒரு நண்பனாகவும் இல்லை. ஒரு விவேகமுள்ள ராஜாவாகவும் இல்லை. இதற்கு நேர் மாறாக கிருஷ்ணன் அர்ஜுனனுக்கு நற்போதை செய்து, சரியனான நம்பிக்கை ஊட்டினான். தர்மரும் பல விவேகம் மிக்க பெரியோர் ஆலோசனை கேட்டார். இதனால் தான் எல்லா பெரியோர்க்கும் தர்மரே பிடிக்கும். நற்சேர்க்கை உயிர் காக்கும்.

துர்சேர்க்கை உயிர் கெடுக்கும். இது மஹாபாரத்தின் பல தத்துவங்களில் ஒன்றாகும்.

வட கொரியா பற்றி சில சுவாரசியமான தகவல்கள் எவை?

              பார்ப்பதற்கு குழந்தை போல இருப்பவர் தான் கிம் ஜாங் உன். ஆனால் இவர் செய்யும் செயல்களோ கொடூரமானவை.  2011 ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 28 ஆம் தேதி தலைநகர் பியாங்யாங் முழுவதும் மக்கள் அழுகையும், கண்ணீருமாக இருந்தனர். 1994 முதல் 2011 வரை வடகொரிய அதிபராக இருந்த கிம் ஜாங் இல் -ன் இறுதி ஊர்வலத்தில் கண்களைக் கசக்கிக் கொண்டு காரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார் அதிபருடைய இளைய மகனான கிம் ஜாங் உன். அப்போது அவருடைய வயது 26. இதுவரை யாருமே பார்த்திடாத மனம் கொண்ட உன்-ஐ அப்பொழுது யாருக்கும் தெரிந்திருக்கவில்லை.

              வடகொரிய அதிபர் குடும்பத்தில் ஒரு பழக்கம் இருந்தது. சிறுவயதிலேயே பிறர் அறிந்திரா வண்ணம் தங்கள் குழந்தைகளை வெளிநாட்டிற்கு அனுப்பிவிடுவர். அப்படித் தான் வடகொரிய தூதுவருடைய குழந்தை என்ற போர்வையில் படிப்பு முடியும் வரை சுவிட்சர்லாந்தில் வளர்ந்தார் கிம் ஜாங் உன். இப்படி தலைமறைவாக இருந்தவர் தன் தந்தை இறப்பதற்கு ஓராண்டுக்கு முன்பு தான் வடகொரியாவுக்கு வந்தார்.

           பதவிக்கு வந்த பின் கிம் ஜாங் உன் போக்குவரத்து, கட்டுமானம், இலவச கல்வி வழங்கப்படும், புதிய வேலைவாய்ப்புகள் உருவாக்கப்படும், நாட்டில் இனி ஏழைகள் என யாருமே கிடையாது, கனரகத் தொழிலில் தாராளமய கொள்கைகள் பின்பற்றப்படும் என்றெல்லாம் அறிவித்தார். மக்களின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு அளவே இல்லை. இதுவரை ஒரு பயங்கரமான ஆட்சியாளரிடம் அகப்பட்டிருந்த மக்கள் இவரின் அறிவிப்புக்கு பிறகு கீழ்கண்ட மனநிலையில் இருந்தனர்.

         பிறகு தானே தெரிந்தது இவர் "அதுக்கும் மேல" என்று. அவர் அறிவித்த எந்த திட்டமும் செயல்படுத்தப்படவே இல்லை. ஆனாலும் அவர் வழக்கம்போல அறிவிப்புகள் வெளியிட்டுகொண்டே இருந்தார். பிறகு மக்கள், அவர் எந்த அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட்டாலும் கீழ்கண்ட மனநிலைக்கு மாறிவிட்டனர்.

       அவர் எதுவுமே செய்யவில்லையா? செய்தார். என்ன செய்தார் என்றால்:  வடகொரியாவின் இரகசியங்களை மற்ற நாடுகளுக்கு கசியவிடாமல் செய்தார். வெளிநாட்டுப் புத்தகங்களைத் தடை செய்தார்.வெளிநாட்டு படங்கள், இசைகள், ரேடியோ முதலியவற்றை தடை செய்தார்.மிகக் கடுமையான தணிக்கைகளுக்குப் பிறகே வெளிநாட்டு நிகழ்ச்சிகளை வெளியிடும்படி செய்தார்.

          வடகொரியாவுக்கும் வெளி உலகுக்கும் இடையே பிரம்மாண்ட தொழில்நுட்ப சுவரை கட்டும்படி செய்தார். இவருடைய தந்தை தனக்காக அந்தப்புரம் ஒன்றைக் கட்டியிருந்தார். அதில் அவருக்கு சேவை செய்பவர்கள் பள்ளி மாணவிகள். இவர் தந்தை கூட பரவாயில்லை. நம்முடைய 'உன்'னிற்கு  17 அரண்மனைகள் இருப்பதாக செய்தி. அப்படி என்றால் நிலைமை இன்னும் மிக மோசம்தான். கிம் ஜாங் உன் மிகச் சிறந்த 'குடி'மகன். இவருக்காக மட்டுமே ஆண்டிற்கு 30 மில்லியன் டாலர் அளவிற்கு வெளிநாட்டில் இருந்து மது இறக்குமதி செய்யப்படுகிறது.

     ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டிலிருந்தும் பிரத்யேக மதுவை இறக்குமதி செய்ய தனித்தனியான அதிகாரிகள் இருக்கிறார்கள். மதுவகைகளைப் போலவே அசைவ உணவுகளிலும் அதிக ஆர்வம் உடையவர். வெண்பன்றி, ஒட்டகம், மான், மாடு என காட்டில் இருக்கும் அனைத்துமே இவர் உணவுப் பட்டியலில் இருக்கும். ஒவ்வொரு இறைச்சியும் ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டில் இருந்து இறக்குமதி செய்கிறார்கள். உதாரணமாக வெண்பன்றி-டென்மார்க், ஒட்டகம்-ஈரான். இதனால் தற்போது இவரது எடை 120 கிலோ(+). இதில் புகைப் பழக்கம் வேறு இருப்பதாக தகவல். Yves Saint Laurent என்ற சிகரெட் தான் இவருக்கு மிக விருப்பமானது. [ Yves சிகரெட் ஒரு பாக்கெட் விலை ஏறத்தாழ 55 டாலர்கள் மட்டுமே அதாவது இந்திய மதிப்பில் 4100 (+) ] அதிபருக்கு விமான பயணம் என்றால் அலர்ஜியோ அலர்ஜி. சீன அதிபர் உடனான சந்திப்பின் போது கூட இரயில் பயணம் தான் மேற்கொண்டார்.

          நாட்டின் உட்கட்டமைப்பில் பல குறைகள் இருப்பினும் ஏவுகணை சோதனை, அணுகுண்டு சோதனை ஆகியவற்றை மேற்கொண்டு அமெரிக்காவையும், மற்ற உலக நாடுகளையும் வெறுப்பேற்ற தவறுவதே இல்லை. இப்படி தான் ஒருமுறை வடகொரியாவில் இராணுவப் புரட்சி செய்ய முயன்ற இராணுவ ஜெனரலை கொடூரமாக கொலை செய்து தன் வீட்டில் இருக்கும் பிரம்மாண்ட பிரானா மீன் தொட்டியில் வீசி விட்டார். இப்படி மர்ம தேசத்தின் மன்னாதி மன்னனாக வலம் வரும் கிம் ஜாங் உன்-ஐப் பற்றி முழுமையாக அறிய அவரிடமே நேரடியாக சென்றுதான் கேட்கவேண்டும்.

For your prayers to reach God, affix the stamp of ‘faith’ and address it with ‘love’. With faith and love, your prayers will reach God regardless of distance. Also, your love for God must be pure and unsullied. Prepare yourself to face God’s tests. In life, all of you are tested on how much you are attached to ephemeral worldly attractions and how much you yearn for God. The sooner you pass these tests, the nearer you will get to God. There can be no spiritual advancement without passing God’s tests. If your love for God is a tiny fraction of your love for mundane gifts, how do you expect God to shower His grace on you? Turn your faith away from the temporal and the transient to the unchanging eternal reality. Out of the many hours you waste thinking about worldly attachments, if you think of God even for a few moments, how much more beneficial would that be?

Love for Love's sake; do not manifest it for the sake of material objects or for the fulfillment of worldly desires. Desire begets anger, anger provokes sin, and under its impact, friends are seen as foes. Anger is at the bottom of every variety of calamity. Therefore, do not fall prey to it. Treat everyone, whoever they may be with the all-inclusive compassion of Love. This constructive empathy has to become the spontaneous reaction of all mankind. Saturate your every breath, while you inhale and while you exhale, with Love. Saturate each moment with Love. Love knows no fear. Love shuns falsehood. Fear drags man into falsehood, injustice and wrong. Love does not crave for praise; that is its strength. Only those who have no Love in them seek reward and reputation. The reward for Love is Love itself. Selfless love is the highest duty, the noblest Godliness.

Poornima means effulgent Full Moon. Guru means (Gu - ignorance; Ru - destroyer) He, who removes the darkness and delusion from the heart and illumines it with Higher Wisdom. The Moon and the Mind are inter-related as object and image. Today, the Moon is full, fair and cool, its light is fresh, pleasant and peaceful. So the light of the Mind too must be pleasing and pure. In the firmament of your Heart, Moon is the Mind. There are thick and heavy clouds, sensual desires and worldly activities, which mar your joy at the Light of the Moon. Therefore, welcome the strong breeze of Love to scatter the clouds and confer on you the cool glory of moonlight. When devotion shines in full, the sky in the heart becomes a bowl of beauty and your life is transformed into a charming avenue of Ananda. That beauty of heart, that Ananda (bliss), must be won through the mind, by engaging in Sadhana (spiritual practice).

To render an act fit to be offered to God and pure enough to win His Grace, it must manifest Love. The brighter the manifestation, the nearer you are to God. Prema should not be modified by considerations of caste, creed, religion and so on; it cannot be tarnished by envy, malice or hate. Preserve Love from being poisoned by these evils; endeavour to cultivate hatred-less, distinction-free feelings. The root of all religions, substance of all scriptures, rendezvous of all roads, inspiration of all individuals is the Principle of Prema (Love). It is the firmest foundation for your life’s mission. It is the Light that ensures peace and prosperity of the World. Fill every word of yours with Love, fill every act of yours with Love. The word that emerges from your tongue should not stab like the knife, nor wound like an arrow. It must be a foundation of sweet nectar, a soft path of blossoms, and must shower peace and joy.

The reality is cognisable everywhere; why, it is evident most in oneself, when you earnestly seek it. You can experience it, even while performing selflessly your duty to yourself and others. I shall indicate to you today, four directives for sanctifying your lives and purifying your mind, so that you can contact the God within you. Tyaja durjana samsargam (give up the company of the wicked); Bhaja Sadhu Samagamam (welcome the chance to be among the good); Kuru punyam ahoratram (do good deeds both day and night); and Smara nithyam-anityatam (remember which is lasting and which is not). When one does not attempt to transform oneself thus, one is likely to blame God for one’s sorrows, instead of blaming one’s own unsteady faith! Such a person blames God because he or she announces oneself as a devotee too soon, and expects plentiful grace. Grace cannot be claimed by such; God must accept the devotee as His own.

If you repeat 'God, God' but receive anger and lust, hate and envy into your heart, you cannot rise into Divinity, you will only slide into diabolism. When you are eager to place offerings before the Lord, instead of transitory materials, let your offering be Love. Love is the only comprehensive code of conduct. Love is no merchandise; do not bargain about its cost. Let it flow clear from the heart, as a stream of Truth, a river of wisdom. Let it not emanate from the head, nor from the tongue. Let it emerge, full and free, from the heart. This is the highest duty of each one of you, the noblest Godliness. Start the day with Love. Live the day with Love. Fill the day with Love. Spend the day with Love. End the day with Love. This is the way to God.

Advesta Sarva Bhutanam (bear no ill-will against living being), Sarva bhuta hite ratah (always engage in promoting the well being of all beings), Samah shatrau cha mitre cha cha (consider foe and friend alike) - jewels like these contained in the Gita, are, as known to all, pointers to the need for Universal Love. By declaring that man shall not bear ill-will towards the entire world of living beings, the Gita is positing a lesson with invaluable inner meaning that in all beings and even in all things, there is a moving, revolving, and active illumining Principle which is the Divine, appropriately called as Atma. It is a wrong against God, this omnipresent Divine, to hate living beings, to injure them; that is to say, it is as bad as hating and injuring oneself - the reason being that the injurer is as much a living being with God as his core, as the injured.

Your time must be used not only in the task of collecting information and earning certain skills that will give you an income on which you can live; it must also be used to acquire the art of being content and calm, collected and courageous. You must also cultivate an ardent thirst for knowing the truth of the world and of your own Self. Let your words be like honey; your hearts be as soft as butter! Your outlook must be like the lamp - illumining, not confusing. Be like the umpire on the football field, watching the game, judging the play according to the rules laid down, unaffected by success or reverse of one team vs another! Remember, you are all pilgrims, moving along this land of action (Karma kshetra) to the goal of land of righteousness (Dharma kshethra). Be humble and strong to resist temptation. Do not yield like cowards to the sly insinuations of the senses.

Inner cleanliness, keeping the mind and the intellect serene and sacred, free from dirt, is very important for a seeker. When thoughts and feelings are impure and agitated, you cannot be calm and happy. When the mind is polluted, reactions are polluted. To keep the mind clean, you must empathetically analyse situations involving others and their activities, and then decide on how to respond to them. Do not rush to draw conclusions. Following others’ reactions is not desirable. One must resolve on any action only after intelligent discrimination and inquiry. “Some of our people are doing this, so we will do it too” - this attitude is mean and demeaning, it is a sign of weakness. It is the consequence of basic ignorance. Sheep behave in that manner. Born as people, moving about as educated persons, yet stupidly following others as sheep do and polluting the minds with ideas borrowed from the lips of others — these things are to be avoided.

It may take many lives for a man or a woman to prove that they know what is best for them, that they are able to chalk out their own future without harming themselves or others, that they are aware of the pitfalls on the way. So it is best to trust the experience of sages, who were filled with compassion and who were moved by that compassion to illumine the path of liberation. This experience is enshrined in the Scriptures (Vedas). Faith in the Vedas irrigates the heart and makes it yield the harvest of universal love. The Sastras warn you of false steps, they console you in times of stress, they strengthen you in distress, and they give correct interpretations of moral dilemmas. They prescribe the dress, the food, the manner of speech, the methods of social conduct, the mode of mutual behaviour, and the lines of onward march. They are the conscience of society.
