Under any and all circumstances, let your feelings and actions be pure, noble and ideal. Let all your actions be for the highest good of all. Your heart is the centre of sacred feelings. It is filled with compassion. It is compassion that gives rise to sacred feelings. You must develop compassion, spread the light of love and cultivate Divine feelings. Without doing so, how can you expect time to confer happiness on you? If you expect good results, you must cultivate good feelings. With purity of heart, steadiness of mind and selfless actions, you can become the recipient of Divine grace, which will remove any amount of suffering in a trice. Hence always discriminate and undertake such activities which will confer Divine grace, which will in turn, bless you with peace and happiness!

You are not born in this world to strut about for a while on the stage, consuming food and making merry. You came into the world so that you may bask in the presence of God, through the exercise of love and the cultivation of love. If you deny God angrily, you are drying up the strings of love in your heart. The earth is a great enterprise, a busy factory, where the product is love. By means of Sadhana (spiritual practice), it is possible to produce love and export it to millions and millions of people in need of it. The more it is shared the deeper it becomes, the sweeter it tastes and the greater is the joy. One can approach God and stay in His presence by means of love, for God is love, and when one lives in love, one lives in God and with God.

Embodiments of the Divine! Do not fritter your days in attaining affluence with material possessions, which are often impediments in the journey of life. Money comes and goes; morality comes and grows! Money is not true wealth; it loses value, it bloats the ego and hardens the heart. If you do not allow money to circulate, it will destroy your health, as surely as bad blood will! Do not take it amiss, for, I am telling this only out of the fullness of My love for you! Worldly achievements develop conceit, separate one human from another! Your heart contracts and shrinks your sphere of awareness of the Divine! Love is expansion and expansion is Divine Life. God can be realised only through love. Without love in the heart, your heart is a desert; God will not reside therein. Sow pure Love; it will blossom as compassion and tolerance, and yield the fruit of everlasting peace (shanti).

The Nature around us and with us is the vesture of God. We have evidence of His beauty, goodness, wisdom and power all around us, wherever we turn our eyes. But the art of recognising Him is strange to us and so, we deny Him and live in darkness. We have all around us the music emanating from all the broadcasting stations of the world, but they do not assail your ear at any time. But have a receiver and tune in to the correct wavelength, you will hear the broadcast! If you fail to tune it correctly, you will get nuisance instead of news! So too, the Divine is everywhere - above, around, below, beside, near as well as far. For cognising Him, you require not a machine (yantra) but a mystical formula (mantra). Meditation (Dhyana) is the fixing the exact location of the station in the band, love is the correct tuning in, and realising the reality and the bliss it confers is the happy clear listening!

Everyone has faith in the power of love. When people ask, "How can we develop our love for the Lord?" The answer is: "There is only one way - to put into practice the love in which you have faith, then that love will grow." Because you do not practice what you profess, your faith gets weakened. A plant will grow only when it is watered regularly. When you plant the seed of love, you can make it grow only by watering it with love every day. The tree of love will grow and yield the fruits of love. Men and women today do not perform those acts which will promote love. When you wish to develop love for the Lord, you must continually practice loving devotion to the Lord. Devotion should flow from the heart, as was the case with the Gopikas. Much of what passes for devotion nowadays is artificial. Develop pure and sincere devotion, and sanctify your lives.

Embodiments of Divine Love! When the mind is turned towards things of the world, it is calledAnuraga (affection or attachment) and if it is turned towards God, it is called Prema (Love or devotion). Love is the fruit of love. Love is comparable only with love. Love can offer only love. Love cannot be described by poetry. It cannot be proved by the mind or the spoken word. Hence the Vedas declare that pure love transcends mind and speech. Love is priceless and indescribably precious. Its sweetness is unexcelled. Scriptures describe nectar (Amrit) as indescribably sweet. But Love is far sweeter than nectar. Love can be got only through love. Love is a precious diamond which can be got only in the realm of love and nowhere else. The kingdom of Love is located in a heart filled with love. Love can be experienced only in a mind flowing with love and a heart filled with love.

There was a huge halo of splendour illuminating the sky over the village when Christ was born. This meant that He, who was to overcome the darkness of evil and ignorance had taken birth, that He will spread the Light of Love in the hearts of all men and women. When you celebrate the birth of Christ, resolve to lead your life performing loving service to the weak, helpless, distressed and disconsolate. Cultivate tolerance, forbearance, charity and magnanimity. Hold dear the ideals Jesus taught and practice them in your daily lives. However, the ways in which Christmas is celebrated now shows how far people have moved away from these noble ideals! The midnight hour is revered, illumination is arranged, the Christmas tree is set up, but then, do you spend the rest of the night filling yourself with Divine Bliss? Purify your hearts, perform holy activities, and be loving towards everyone. That is the best way of celebrating Christmas.

What is it that people should acquire today? It is the broadening of the heart so that it may be filled with all-embracing love. Only then the sense of spiritual oneness of all mankind can be experienced. Out of that sense of unity will be born the love of God. This love will generate pure bliss in the heart that is boundless, indescribable and everlasting. For all forms of bliss, love is the source. A heart without love is like a barren land. Foster love in your hearts and redeem your lives. Whatever your scholarship or wealth, they are valueless without love. Without devotion all other accomplishments are of no avail for realising God. Men aspire for liberation. True liberation means freedom from desires. Today people cannot go to forests for penance or engage themselves in meditation and other spiritual exercises. The easiest spiritual path for all people is to dedicate all their actions to God.

Jesus taught simple practical lessons in spiritual advancement for the good of mankind; He manifested divine powers to instill faith in the validity of His teachings; He marked out the path that confers sweet nectar of bliss (Ananda) on humanity. He exhorted people by precept to cultivate the virtues of charity, compassion, forbearance, love and faith. We must pay attention to the sacrifice that Jesus made while free, out of His own volition. He sacrificed His happiness, prosperity, position, comfort, and safety, and braved the enmity of the powerful. He refused to yield or compromise. He renounced the ego, which is the toughest thing to get rid of. Honour Him for these. He willingly gave up the desires with which the body torments man; this is a great sacrifice. The celebration of His birthday has to be marked by your sacrificing at least a desire or two, and conquering at least the more disastrous urges of the ego.

Embodiments of Divine Love! If you desire to secure genuine peace in the world, you should not have any antipathy towards religion. You must hold morality (neeti) as superior to your community (jati). You must cherish good feelings as more important than religious beliefs. Mutual regard (Mamata), equal-mindedness (samata) and forbearance (kshamata) are essential foundational qualities for every human being. A true human being is one who cultivates these three sacred qualities. Get rid of all self-interest and self-centeredness. Develop love, forbearance and compassion. Live harmoniously. Service to the needy should be your guiding principle. There should be no room for any kind of differences in rendering service. When you wish to serve society, you must be prepared to sacrifice your individual and communal interests. Through such sacrifice you can sublimate your life. Scriptures (Vedas) have emphatically declared that immortality can be attained only through sacrifice (tyaga).

When people do not place faith in the Self but pursue the senses only, danger signal is lit and the Lord sends a Messenger or comes Himself, if a great big step in reconstruction has to be taken. Arjuna forgot the basis of the Self, Ravana went against it. The world is building itself up on the sandy foundation of the sensory world. So, Avatars descend. Like the monkey which could not pull its hand from out of the narrow-necked pot, because it first held in its grasp a handful of groundnuts which the pot contained, people are suffering today, since they are unwilling to release their hold on the handful of pleasurable things they have grasped from the world. People are led into the wrong belief that the accumulation of material possessions will endow them with joy and calm. But Prema (Divine Love) alone can give that everlasting joy. Prema alone can remove anger, envy and hatred!

If you visit holy places like going for a picnic without necessary mental preparation to receive God’s Grace, you will be a nuisance, spoiling the atmosphere of the sacred place. You go from place to place, like postal parcels, collecting impressions on the outer wrapper, not on the core of your being. You do not allow the holiness of the place to act on your mind. As a result of the pilgrimage, your habits must change for the better, your outlook must widen, your inward look must become deeper and become more steady. You must realise the omnipresence of God, and the Oneness of Humanity. You must learn tolerance and patience, charity and service. After the pilgrimage is over, sitting in your own home and ruminating over your experiences, you must determine to seek the higher, the richer and the more real experience of God-realisation. I bless you that you may form that determination and strive step by step to achieve that Goal.

A home is filled with love, with the sacrifice that love involves, the joy that love radiates, and the peace that love imparts. The brick and mortar structure where parents and children spend their lives is a house, not a home; neither children yearn for it nor parents find peace therein. In your homes, one discipline all of you must heed is - the control of the senses! If you give them free rein, they will drag you into calamity. Education must render you monarch of your talents which are your tools for acquiring knowledge. The eye, the ear, the tongue are like wild horses that have no reins; learn the art of meditation (dhyana) by which the senses can be controlled and the will directed inwards, towards the mastery of feelings and emotions. Not just homes, nations that have no bridle on its sensuality can never thrive or survive.

Bharatiya Culture has world-wide presence since it can correct and canalise the human emotions and motives along healthy productive routes. It is sacred and it can establish peace and joy in the hearts of all. It seeks to strike roots into life through the mothers, and the children on their laps. Women have been its custodians and promoters; men have a secondary role. And, among women, the young students who in the coming days will become leaders must become examples whom all women will wish to emulate; they must understand and practise this culture, so that it may be preserved and it may flourish. The keenness to acquire education is now very evident among the daughters of the nation, and so great hope can be placed on them, in this field of reconstruction. Education must be for life, not for a living. Women have proved throughout the centuries in Indian history that they have the courage, the vision, and the intelligence needed to dive into the depths of spiritual science and discipline.

All men and women are caskets containing the Divine Glory. But you love some of them as friendly, hate some others as unfriendly, and divide them into camps and groups. When someone is good to you, attribute that goodness to godliness in them; when someone is bad to you, be happy that you have given them some satisfaction, by becoming the target for their attention! If anyone harms the body, sages are unaffected, because they know they are not the body! If anyone tries to harm the soul, sages know that it is impossible, for soul is ever in bliss! By means of Sadhana, become that type of sage, unaffected by pleasure and pain, loss or gain, victory or defeat. Be a witness, a disinterested witness of all the gyrations of fortune. Inquiry (vichara) will reveal to you that these are mere fleeting fantasies of your mind. By means of Japa and Dhyana (repetition of and meditation on the divine name), attain oneness with the Universal Absolute (Parabrahmam).

Home is the temple where the family, each member of which is a moving temple, is nurtured and nourished. Mother is the high priest of this house of God. The centre of every home must be the shrine; the fragrance of flower and incense emanating from there must pervade the home and purify it. Mother must set an example in making the shrine the heart of the household. She must enforce discipline over children in personal cleanliness, in humility, hospitality, good manners and in acts of service. She must persuade children to revere elders by example and precept, and to allot some time both in the morning and evening for prayer and silent meditation. Humility is the incense with which the house is filled. Reverence is the lamp that is lit with love as the oil and faith as the wick. I bless you that through your faith and strength, devotion and dedication may increase in this land.

The emperor of the Cholas sought to visit the Srirangam Gopuram temple, of which he had heard much. He got his chariot ready and moved forward many times in six months; but every time a recluse in ochre robes with a rosary around his neck and a halo around his head intercepted the vehicle. When the emperor alighted to honour him, he kept him engaged in conversation which was so enchanting that he forgot his journey and its goal. One day, when he lamented over his failure to fill his eyes with the glory of Srirangam, the Lord appeared before him and said: "Why do you lament? I am the Master who came to you so often as soon as you set out for Srirangam; recognise Me in all, that is the genuine pilgrimage to Srirangam." Consider all whom you meet as the Lord of Srirangam, your Master. Show untarnishedPrema (love) towards all who come to you.

You engage in Bhajan (congregational chant), puja (worship) anddhyana (meditation) - these are but physical exercises. Ask yourself - Am I able to sublimate my small sadhana (spiritual effort) for a higher purpose? Is my heart vibrating in them? If not, you remain at the human level and are not rising to the state of the Divine. ‘Can the lake be filled when there is only a sprinkle of rain? Can thirst be relieved, when saliva gets in? Can the belly be full, if one’s breath is held tight? Can live cinders be secured by the burning of blades of grass?’ - asks a poet. Logs have to be burned if charcoal is needed; only sheets of rain can fill a lake to the brim; a glass of cold water alone can cure a person of thirst, nothing less. Offer your heart in full. Devotion must fill and overflow from the heart.

When you step into a house and on the walls of the shrine room you see a picture of Mine, do you not feel a wave of reverence and kinship surging within you? You may not like that person for any other reason, but this picture will bring them closer to you though the owner of the house may be your rival in the professional field. Even the person, whom you were treating as your worst adversary has the selfsame light in their innermost heart as yours! Know that every other person has in their heart of hearts a picture of the God you revere. Recognise it and reconcile your misunderstandings; close up all gaps and be brothers and sisters in pilgrimage, encouraging and inspiring each other along the arduous road. In the glory of that all-enveloping Light, all hate and envy, which are the evil progeny of darkness, will vanish. Know that the same light is in all.

How long can you stagnate in the same class of devotion? Have you no wish to get promoted to the next higher class? In devotion (Bhakti), there are two classes, Sahaja-bhakti and Vishesha-bhakti. Sahaja-bhakti is satisfied with puja (worship), vrata (observing ritual worship), bhajan, namasmaran, (group singing, remembrance of Lord), pilgrimage, etc.Visesha-bhakti craves for purity of character, suppression of impulses, control of the mind, practice of daya, prema, shanti, ahimsa(compassion, love, peace and nonviolence), etc., and inquiry into the why and wherefore of man. It is a matter of shame that people stick to the same class of sahaja-bhakti year in and year out. When you clear these two, there is another higher class named Para Bhakti (Seeing God everywhere), too. Cleverness can correct and solve external problems; concentrated sadhana alone can correct and solve the internal crisis fuming within.

Join good company.

There is a vast difference between India five centuries ago, and India today, in the field of sense control. Today senses are allowed free play; every human being is a slave to greed, lust and egoism. The fault lies entirely with parents and elders. When children go to temples or religious discourses, they reprimand them and warn them that it is a sign of insanity. They tell them that religion is an old-age pursuit; it should not be taken seriously by youngsters! But, if only you encourage the children, they can equip themselves better for the battle of life. Every parent ought to advise their children: "Be convinced that there is God, guiding and guarding us. Remember Him with gratitude. Pray to Him to render you pure. Love all, serve all. Join good company. Visit temples and holy men." Campaign against the temptations of the senses, conquer inner foes and triumph over your ego. That is the true victory that deserves celebration!

Some people are envious of the high standard of living experienced by people living in rich nations, but the poverty of India is much more congenial to the good life than the luxurious and vainglorious life of the west. The sea has a vast expanse of water, but can it quench the thirst of man? Similarly, however much riches and comfort a person may possess, if they have not cultivated detachment, all they’ve accumulated is but sheer waste. Detachment from sensual pleasures and objective pursuits helps the growth of Love towards God and the Godly. When you realise that God is in you, you will value yourself much more, for when you know that the piece of 'glass' you picked up is diamond, you will secure it in an iron safe, isn’t it? Similarly know that each one of you are carefully carved by a sculptor to become a charming idol of God, and conduct yourself accordingly.

Every passing day truly becomes holy, when you sanctify it bysadhana, not otherwise. Spiritual practices (Sadhana) can grow only in a field fertilised by love and nonviolence. Love or Prema is absolutely essential for devotion to God (bhakti). The love you have towards material objects, name, fame, wife and children, etc., should be sanctified by being subsumed by the more overpowering Love of God. Add two spoons of water to two seers of milk, the water too is appreciated as milk! At present your sadhana can be described only as mixing two litres of water with two spoons of milk, isn’t it? Let love for God fill and thrill your heart; then, you cannot hate any one, you cannot indulge in unhealthy rivalries, and you will not find fault with any one. Life will become soft, sweet and smooth.

God is not far from you. He is within you, in your own inner altar. All of you suffer because you are unable to discover Him there and draw peace and joy from that discovery. A washerman, standing knee-deep in a flowing river and washing his clothes therein, died of thirst because he failed to realise that the life-giving water was within his reach. Such is the story of man. He runs in desperate haste, to seek God outside and dies disappointed and distraught, only to be born again. Of course, you must be in the world, but remember, you need not be of it. The attention has to be fixed on the God within. In the Kannada country, there is a festival called Karaga. The central figure of this holy rite keeps many pots on his head, one over the other, and moves in the procession keeping step with the music; he has also to sing in tune with the rest and keep time to the beat of the drum. But, all the while he has his attention fixed on balancing the precarious tower on his head. So too, you must keep the goal of God-realisation before you, while engaged in the noisy and hilarious procession of life.

Feelings of hatred, malice, envy and pride that create separation between people who are kith and kin, arise from identification with the body. You feel and believe you are the body. You know your body is separate from the other bodies. You think of your hunger, your thirst, your comfort, your family, your community, your state - thus you create bounds for your love, and curb yourselves, treating all outside the bounds as enemies, strangers and competitors. But the source and sustenance is one: God, the Father of mankind. Pay attention to the Fatherhood, more than the brotherhood. That will underline the brotherhood more and more in your heart and remove the poison of distinction that has come through ignorance. All of you are limbs of one body, nourished by the self-same life, blood flows in you motivated by the same will, the will of God, and all are bound by the same Divine Law! That is the  Vishwarupa  (Cosmic Vision) that one must see and experience. 
That endows one with everlasting bliss.

Good Deed and Sin

The Lord values your attitude behind every action.Yad bhavam, tad bhavati - you become what you feel. Hence transmute every act into worship and derive maximum joy. Sai is in every being; so do not slight anyone. Revere and serve all to the best of your ability. When someone asks for water to quench their thirst and you offer them a cup, feel that you are offering it to Me; then, that act purifies and cleanses you. It is not the person in need that you serve, you are serving God who is in you and them. Karma (action) is the flower and Jnana(wisdom) is the fruit. The flower becomes fruit in fullness of time when you guard it free from pests. Charcoal is wood that was burnt under the baptism of fire. With time, charcoal transforms to white, light ash that flies in the wind. Rigorously purify your mind in the fire of wisdom until you gain success.

Hanuman did not become conceited when Rama selected him for the crucial southward search and when He gave him the ring to be given to Sita, nor was he affected by fear at the tremendous responsibility. He accepted it; he was neither happy nor unhappy. He felt that Rama knows all and so, his duty was only to obey. I have called you and am naming you as ‘Volunteers’ (Sevadal) to give you an opportunity to practise this spiritual exercise ofMadhava seva through Manava seva (service to God through service to man). Do not therefore take this as authority conferred on you, or as a burden put on your shoulders. When you call yourself a Sevak (or Sevadal) offering service to another, have also reverence in your mind that the person whom you serve is the Lord Himself in that form. This attitude is very helpful for the aspirant. Service of man is service of God. But when? Only when you feel in the depth of your heart that the person whom you serve is a wave of the same sea from which you derive your individuality, your taste, your name and form!

Convince yourself that the Lord is in you, as your charioteer, holding the reins of the five horses (the senses) and giving you constant counsel, as He did when Arjuna prayed to Him to lead and guide. Then it becomes easy for you to convince yourself that the self-same charioteer is leading and guiding everyone else. When you are established in this faith firmly, you become free of hate and malice, greed and envy, anger and attachment. Pray to the Lord to strengthen this conviction and this faith; He will open your eyes to the Truth and reveal to you that He is the Sanathana Sarathi (Eternal Charioteer) in all. That revelation will confer on you incomparable bliss and grant you kinship with the creation's manifoldness. Know Him as your strength, your breath, your intelligence, your joy - He becomes all of this for you. He will direct all your senses, mind, consciousness and intelligence towards the highest Goal; His Grace will confer all you need.

You must cultivate love towards everyone, however distinct the character and capacity of each may be. Though the same blood flows through the entire body, the eye cannot smell, the ear cannot taste, the nose cannot see, and so on. So, do not amplify the distinctions and quarrel with one another. Emphasize upon the basic brotherhood of mankind and the principle of love. Just like sugar that is fully dissolved in the cup of water is invisible, but patent to the tongue in every drop, so too the Divine is invisible but immanent; He is capable of being experienced in every individual, whether rich, poor, educated or illiterate. Repeat the names of the Lord (Namasmarana) incessantly. Dwell on His glory and compassion which those names reveal to you. Taste the sweetness that is in the heart of every one. Then, it will be easier for you to visualise Him in all, to love Him in all, and to adore Him in all.

Embodiments of Divine! Different people today pursue different kinds of Sadhana. To realise the benefits of this Sadhana, they go to Ashrams, adore elders and worship them. As long as egoism remains in them, all these exercises are of no avail. Hence suppress your ego, bury the sense of possessiveness and develop attachment to the Atma to realise your true humanness. In Sai organisations, the primary requisite is unity and mutual trust. Only with unity can you promote the wellbeing of the world. If there is discord within the organisation, how can you serve others? Today, envy, hatred and anger are causing havoc amongst all people. At the outset, destroy your ego. Then anger will subside. Anger is described as incense offered to sin. Make forbearance your ornament. Through love, eliminate your bad traits. Do your duty without projecting your ego. Develop mutual helpfulness. Be friendly towards each other and carry on your work with joy and peace.

Today spiritual exercises are confined to listening and not practising. Listening (Shravanam) has become so popular, and after listening, people brag that they know everything. This crazy boastfulness is deepening one's ignorance. You must ruminate over what you listen. After rumination, one should practice the lessons (do Nididhyasana). Only then you will achieve purity in thought, word and deed. To develop a spiritual outlook and to inspire it in others, you must possess purity of heart (Chitta shuddhi). Spiritual wisdom dawns only when there is purity of heart. Just as removal of weeds, tilling the land, sowing the seeds and watering the earth are required before the crop can be harvested, the field of the human heart has to be cleared of bad thoughts and feelings, the Divine Name sown, watered with love and tilled by spiritual practices. Only then you are entitled to reap the harvest of Divine Wisdom (Jnana).

அக்ரஹாரங்களை காலி செய்யும்போது விட்ட சாபம் இன்றும் நாட்டை எரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

சுமார் 40 வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு அக்ரஹாரங்களில் ப்ராமணர்கள் குடியிருந்தனர்.

கோவில்களில் பூஜை புனஸ்காரம் ஒழுங்காய் நடந்தது. 
தேவாரமும் திருவாசகமும் வைணவ கோவில்களில் ஆழ்வார் பாசுரங்களும் பய பக்தியுடன் பாடப்பட்டன.

மாதம் மும்மாரி பெய்தது.
விவசாயம் சுபிட்சமாயிருந்தது.

பல்வேறு காரணங்களுக்காக பிராமணர்கள் தமிழ்நாட்டை விட்டு விரட்டப்பட்டனர். கல்வி வேலை வாய்ப்பு மறுக்கப்பட்டது.

அவர்கள் மும்பை டோம்பிவிலியையும் மாதுங்காவையும் தங்களது இரண்டாம் அக்ரஹாரமாக்கினர்.
மராட்டியம் வளம் பெற்றது.
இங்கிலாந்து சென்று இன்புற்றனர்.
அமெரிக்கா சென்று ஆனந்தமடைந்தனர்.

அக்ரஹாரங்களில் இறையச்சமில்லா மக்கள் அடிமாட்டு விலைக்கு வாங்கி குடியேறினர்.

கோவில் வளம் குன்றியது.
கடவுளர் கண்டு கொள்ளப்படவில்லை.
கோவில்கள் பாழடைந்தன.
கோவில் சொத்துக்கள் சூறையாடப்பட்டன. வௌவ்வால்களின் பங்களா ஆயின இறைவனிருக்குமிடங்கள்.

அக்ரஹாரங்களில் அந்தணர்களில்லை.
அதனால் மழையும் பொய்த்தது.
விவசாயம் நலிவுற்றது.
குடியானவன் இடம் பெயர்ந்தான் ஒருவாய் உணவு வேண்டி

தர்மம் என்றால் என்ன என்று தேடும் நிலை வந்தது. விளைச்சல் முடங்கியது.
விவசாயிக்கு உண்டான தானியத்தை அள்ளித்தந்த பிராமணர் புறந்தள்ளப்பட்டனர்.
அதர்மம் தலைவிரித்தாட துவங்கிற்று.

பிராமண துவேஷிகள் கோடிகளில் புரண்டனர். ஆனால் அந்தணர் தளர வில்லை. அழிய வில்லை. கலை, இலக்கியம், விஞ்ஞானம், ஆன்மீகம் மருத்துவம் என்று பல்வேறு துறைகளில் தங்கள் திறமையினால் மிளிர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்.

அவர்கள் அக்ரஹாரங்களை காலி செய்யும்போது விட்ட சாபம் இன்றும் நாட்டை எரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

இவை என் சொந்த கருத்துக்கள். அடித்து உதைத்து மிதித்தாலும் என் கருத்துக்களை மாற்றிக்கொள்ள மாட்டேன்.

Adi Shankara stressed the importance of spending time in good company (Satsanga). He taught that for liberation,Satsanga is the first and important step. Here is a small example: if a piece of black charcoal is kept in the proximity of a bright red fire, the area along which this black charcoal is in contact with the bright fire, begins to glow. In this analogy, the black charcoal is your ignorance. The bright red fire is the good company. By the two coming together, only the portion of your ignorance that is exposed to the effects of good company will be dispelled. But if you employ sadhana or spiritual practice as a fan to increase the area of contact, then the entire region of ignorance will be illumined. It is thus not enough if you are merely in the company of good people. You should also develop the sadhana of love, and be loved by the good people. It is necessary to be near and dear to the good people.

Ahimsa (nonviolence) is not merely refraining from causing harm or injury to others. It also implies refraining from causing harm to oneself. How can you ensure this? By constantly examining whether your conduct is right or wrong. For instance, you must examine whether your words are causing pain to others or not. You must see that your looks are not tainted by evil intentions or thoughts. You should not listen to evil talk. All these cause harm first to yourself and then to others. How do you determine what is bad? By consulting your conscience. Whenever you act against the dictates of your conscience, bad results follow. Conscience within you is the form of the Divine within everyone. Whatever you do, your conscience tells you whether it is right or wrong. To ascertain the directive of conscience, you must wait for some time. Before you say something, practice thinking for a moment if it is proper or not and then speak.

Every activity in the world today is centred around money. Request someone to sing a song or do some work for you, they will immediately start bargaining the amount you will pay for their services. Every activity has become a business today, so much so that business has entered the field of spirituality too. There is no necessity to purchase God with money which, of course, you cannot. In fact, you yourself are God. You are endowed with immense divine power. But you have to keep your mind steady. Let it not jump from one thought to another. If you write correct answers in your examination, you will get correct marks. If you have a good mind, everything will turn out to be good. But if there are bad thoughts in you, the result will also be bad. First and foremost, understand the nature of your mind. You can understand the secret of human life only when you understand your own mind. Be Good, Do Good, See Good. Then everything will become good in your life.

Change the angle of your vision. When you practise seeing the world from the point of view of the omnipresence of the Divine, you will get transformed. You will experience the power of the Divine in everything in creation. You cannot hide anything from God. Many imagine that Swami does not see what they are doing. They do not realise that Swami has a myriad eyes. Even your eyes are divine. But you are not aware of your true nature. When you have faith in yourself, you will have faith in God. Realise that there is nothing beyond the power of God. Love God with that supreme faith. Then you will be drawn towards God. It needs purity. A magnet cannot attract a piece of iron covered with rust. Similarly God will not draw to Himself an impure person. Hence, change your feelings and thoughts and develop the conviction that God is everything.

You should have less luggage (desires) in this long journey of life. Therefore, it is said: ‘less luggage more comfort makes travel a pleasure.’ So, ceiling on desires is what you have to adopt today. You have to cut short your desires day by day. You are under the mistaken notion that happiness lies in the fulfilment of desires. But in fact, happiness begins to dawn when desires are totally eradicated. When you reduce your desires, you advance towards the state of renunciation. You have many desires. What do you get out of them? You are bound to face the consequences when you claim something as yours. When you claim a piece of land as yours, then you will have to reap the harvest. This instinct of ego and attachment will put you to suffering. Never ever forget that you will be blissful the moment you give up ego and attachment!

வாருங்கள் நானும் உங்களுடன் சேர்ந்து வசந்தநல்லூருக்கு வருகிறேன்
. நாமெல்லாம் கோவிலுக்குச்சென்று அடிப்ப்ரதக்ஷிணம் செய்வோம் நம் வீட்டு நலனுக்கு. ஆனால் மஹாபெரியவா இந்தியாவையே அடிப்ரதக்ஷிணம் செய்தார் நாட்டு நலனுக்கு.

அப்படிப்பட்ட மஹானின் ஓர் அற்புதச்செயல். மஹாபெரியவாளின் நடைப்பயணம் நாம் எல்லாம் அறிந்த ஒன்று.

ஒரு நாள் மஹாபெரியவா தன் கைங்கர்ய சிரோன்மணிகளுடன் திருக்கோவிலூர் என்ற ஊருக்கு நடைப்பயணம் செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தார். .பெரியவாளின் வருகையை எதிர்பார்த்து, ஊர் மக்கள் மற்றும் பக்தர்கள் அனைவரும் திருக்கோவிலூர் ஊர் எல்லையில் காத்துக்கொண்டு இருந்தனர்.

திருக்கோவிலூருக்கு சற்று முன்பாக வலதுகை பக்கம் ஒற்றையடிப்பாதை ஒன்று சென்றது. விசாரித்ததில் அந்தப்பாதை, வசந்தநல்லூர் என்னும் சிறிய கிராமத்திற்குச்செல்கிறது என தெரிய வந்தது.

மஹாபெரியவளின் ஸ்ரீகார்ய புருஷர்கள் சொன்னது:

“பெரியவா, அந்த ஊர் மிகச்சின்ன கிராமம். அந்த ஊர்ல தீர்த்தம் கிடையாது..ஊர் மக்கள் அவ்வளவு சுத்தமா இருக்கமாட்டா. ஏற்கனவே மிகவும் நாழியாய்டுத்து. திருக்கோவிலூரில் பக்தர்கள் தெருவுல காத்திண்டிருப்பா!. நாம நேரா திருக்கோவிலூர் போயிடலாம் பெரியவா “என யோசனை சொன்னார்கள்.

அவர்களுக்கு தெரியாதா என்ன. பெரியவா ஒரு முடிவு எடுத்துவிட்டால் அந்த ஈஸ்வரனே வந்தாலும் மாத்த முடியாது. ஏன்னா அந்த ஈஸ்வரனே பெரியவதானே. சரி என்று எல்லோரும் அந்த ஒத்தையடி பாதையில் பெரியவாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு செல்லத்தொடங்கினர்.
அந்த ஒத்தயடிப்பாதை மிகவும் வறண்டு போயிருந்தது. சிறிது நேரத்தில் அந்த ஊருக்குள் நுழைந்தனர் .. அப்பொழுது தான் தெரிந்தது அந்த ஊர் மண் மட்டும் வறண்டிருக்கவில்லை மக்களின் தலையும், மனசும், மனசில் இருந்த நம்பிக்கையும் வறண்டிருந்தன..

அப்பொழுது பெரியவா கண்களில் பட்டது .அந்தக்கண்கொள்ளாக்காட்சி.

வேப்ப மரம், ஆல மரம், அரச மரம், வில்வ மரம்
என எல்லா மரங்களும்
ஒன்றை ஒன்று பின்னிப்பிணைத்திருந்தன.அந்தக்காட்சி நமக்கு உணர்த்திய உண்மை

"நாங்கள் இயற்கையோடு ஒன்றியும்

தாவரங்களின் நட்போடும் இயைந்து

வாழ்ந்து கொண்டு வருகிறோம்.”

தாவரங்கள் போல் நம் மனித இனமும் ஒற்றுமையுடன் வாழந்தால் நம்மை படைத்த இறைவன் எவ்வளவு மகிழுந்து போவான். பிறப்புக்கும் இறப்புக்கும் இடையில் நடக்கும் போர் ஒரு குருஷேத்திர யுத்தம். சாதனைகள் என்ற பெயரில் அரங்கேறும் வேதனைகள் தான் எத்தனை எத்தனை..இருப்பவன் இல்லல்லாதவனிடம் ஏச்சு பிழைப்பது

அன்னியோன்னியம் அற்றுப்போன ஆத்ம உறவுகள்,

எதிர்பார்ப்புகளின் மறு பெயர் தான் உறவுகளா?

சூரிய உதயத்திற்கும் சூரிய அஸ்தமனசத்திற்கும் இருக்கும் இந்த இடைப்பொழுதில் நடக்கும் வாழ்க்கை என்ற நாடகத்தில் நாமே பாத்திரமாகவும் பார்வையாளர்கவும் நடிக்கிறோம் பார்க்கிறோம். பெரியவா அற்புதத்தின் நடுவில் நம் வாழ்க்கையைப்பற்றியும் நாம் சற்று சிந்திப்போம்..

நாம் அந்த அற்புத அதிசயத்திற்குள் நுழைவோம்.

மஹாபெரியவா வேதபுரி மாமாவை அழைத்து அந்தப்பின்னிப்பிணைந்து வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருந்த மரங்களுக்கடியில் ஒரு ஓலைக்கொட்டாய் போடச்சொன்னார்கள். கொட்டாயும் போட்டாகிவிட்டது. பெரியவாளும் உட்கார்ந்தாகிவிட்டது. கைங்கர்ய சிரோன்மணிகளை அழைத்து, ஊருக்குள் இருக்கும் பெரியமனிதர்களை அழைத்துவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார்.

ஊருக்குள் இருந்த பெரிய மனிதர்களும் பெரியவாளை வந்து வணங்கினார்கள். அந்த ஊர்ப்பெரியவர்களுக்கு பெரிவாளை ஓர் மகான் என்ற அளவில் தான் தெரியும். பெரிவாளும் பெரியமனிதர்களும் பேசிக்கொண்டதை ஒரு சம்பாஷணை வடிவில் தருகிறேன். மிகவும் சுவாரசியமாக இருப்பதற்காக..

பெரியமனிதர்கள்:-: வணக்கங்களும் உபசரிப்புகளும் முடிந்த பின் ஊர்ப்பெரியவர்கள் பெரியவாளை வணங்குகிறார்கள்.

பெரியவா: சரி இன்னிக்கி ஒரு ராத்திரி பார்க்கலாம்.நீங்கல்லாம் போய்ட்டு காத்தால வாங்கோ. ஊர் மக்கள் கலைந்து சென்றனர். பெரியவா அந்த ஓலை பந்தலுக்கு அடியில் உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டு எல்லா திசையிலும் ஒரு பார்வை பார்த்தார். அப்போது மாலை மணி சுமார் ஏழு இருக்கும். பகலும் இரவும் சந்திக்கும் நேரம். பெரியவா வேதபுரி மாமாவை கூப்பிட்டு சில கட்டளைகளை பிறப்பித்தார்.

பெரியவா: ஏன்டா வேதா, வானம் எப்படி இருக்கு பாரு.

பெரியவா: மழை வர்ற மாதிரி தெரியலை?.

வேதபுரி மாமா:: ஆமாம் பெரியவா மழை வரும் போல இருக்கு.

ஏழு மணி நேரம் தொடர் மழை

சரியா இரவு 11 மணிக்கு பிடித்த மழை மறு நாள் காலை 6 மணி வரை தொடர்ந்து பெய்தது. ஊர் முழுக்க முழங்கால் அளவு தண்ணி..சூரிய உதயத்திற்கு முன் வரும் அருணோதயமும் வந்துவிட்டது.
ஊர் மக்கள் எல்லாரும் கைகளை தலைக்கு மேல கைகளை கூப்பிக்கொண்டு “சாமி எங்களை வாழ வைக்க வந்த தெய்வம நீங்க. இந்த ஊரிலேயே இருங்க சாமி. நாங்க உங்களுக்கு என்ன வேணாலும் பண்றோம்.

பெரியவா: நீங்க எல்லாம் நன்னா இருங்கோ. நான் இன்னும் நிறைய ஊர் மனுஷாளை பார்க்கணும்.நான் கிளம்பறேன்.

ஊர் மக்கள் சொன்ன வார்த்தை

" பெஞ்ச ஒவ்வொரு மழை துளியும் எங்களுக்கு தங்கமாகும் சாமி.

இப்போது புரிகிறதா! அன்று தங்க மழை பெய்தது

இன்று பெய்த மழையே தங்கமானது

பல வருஷத்துக்கு பெய்யாமல் இருந்த மழை, மஹாபெரியவளின் காலடி பட்டவுடன் ஊடலில் இருந்த மண்ணும விண்ணும் ஊடல் மறைந்து காதலில் திளைத்தது. விளைவு விண்ணும் மண்ணும் சேரந்து ஆனந்தக்கண்ணீர் வடித்ததன. ஊர் முழுவதும் மழை நீர் மற்றும் ஊர் மக்களின் அனந்தக்கண்ணீரும் சேர்ந்து ஊர் முழுவதும் முழங்கால் அளவு தண்ணீர்.

மஹாபெரியவாளின் காலடி பட்டவுடன் ஓர் ஊரே உயிர் பெற்றது.

அந்த பரமேஸ்வரன் அவதாரம் நம் பெரியவா என்பது

எல்லாருக்கும் தெரிந்த ஒன்று.

இதற்கு மேல் என்ன வேண்டும் சான்று.

When your conscience tells you that something is wrong, you should refrain from doing it. You betray your true humanness when you fail to act up to the dictates of your conscience. When one’s words are in accord with one’s thoughts, they become Sathya(truth). When the spoken word is translated into action, it becomesDharma (right action). The basis for both truth and right action is theAntaratma (conscience), the Indwelling Spirit. The thoughts that emanate from the Antaratma or conscience should find expression in speech. If the inner feelings are different from what is spoken, can the words be treated as truth or untruth? Clearly, it is untruth. When one’s action is not in accordance with his words, it is adharma(unrighteous action). Truth and right action are expressions of the promptings from the depths of one’s conscience.
