ஆச்சர்யப்படுத்தும் கோவில்... பிரசாதமாக வழங்கப்படும் தங்கம் !*

நாம் கோவிலுக்கு சென்றால் பிரசாதமாக திருநீறு, குங்குமம், பூ, பழம், பொங்கல் போன்றவற்றை பிரசாதமாக வழங்குவார்கள்.

ஆனால், இங்கு ஒரு கோவிலில் பிரசாதமாக தங்கம் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இது கேட்பதற்கே ஆச்சர்யமாக இருக்கிறதல்லவா?

மத்தியப்பிரதேச மாநிலத்தில் வடமேற்கு பகுதியில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது ரத்லம். ரத்னபுரி என்ற வரலாற்று பெயர்கொண்ட இந்த ஊர் தங்கத்திற்கு பெயர்பெற்றது.

இங்குள்ள மகாலஷ்மி கோவிலில் தங்கம் பரிசாக பக்தர்களுக்கு வழங்குகிறார்கள்.

பக்திக்காக மட்டுமல்லாது, எளியோர்களின் வறுமையினை நீக்குவதற்கு கட்டப்பட்ட இந்த கோவிலுக்கு வருவோர் தாங்கள் செலுத்தும் காணிக்கையினை பணமாக செலுத்துவதில்லை.

காணிக்கை செலுத்துபவர்கள் தங்களால் இயன்ற அளவிற்கு தங்கம் மற்றும் வெள்ளிகளாக காணிக்கையினை செலுத்துகின்றனர்.

வருடம் முழுவதும் பக்தர்கள் செலுத்தும் தங்கம், வெள்ளியானது மலை போன்று குவித்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

மற்ற கோவில்களில் சேரும் காணிக்கையை அந்தந்த கோவில்களின் திருப்பணிகளுக்காக செலவு செய்வார்கள்.

ஆனால், இக்கோவிலில் சேர்ந்த காணிக்கையான தங்கம் மற்றும் வெள்ளியினை தீபாவளி நாளன்று கோவிலுக்கு வரும் பக்தர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கப்படுகிறது.

இதுபோல் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் தீபாவளியன்று பக்தர்களுக்கு பிரசாதமாக தங்கம் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த தங்க பிரசாதம் தினந்தோறும் வழங்கப்படுவதில்லை.

இங்கு பிரசாதமாக தரப்படும் தங்கத்தை மக்கள் இறைவனின் அருளாக பார்க்கின்றனர். அதுமட்டுமின்றி இந்த தங்க பிரசாதத்தை யாரும் விற்பது கிடையாது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

Just as you prescribe minimum qualifications for every profession, the minimum qualification for Grace is surrender of egoism, control over senses and regulated food and recreation (Aahara and vihara). An individual is made or marred by the company one keeps. A bad natured individual who falls into good company is able to shed their evil quickly and shine forth in virtue. However, a good individual falling into evil company is overcome by the subtle influence and slides down into evil. The lesser is overpowered by the greater. A drop of sour curd transforms milk by curdling it, separating the butter and turning it into whey. Sacred books are equally valuable for this transmuting process, but it is not enough if you merely read, memorise or recite them. They must be understood, reflected upon, and the lessons learnt or inferred must be applied into daily practice.

Diamond cuts diamond. Thorn can be used to remove thorn. 
 Karma cures Karma. Karma, derided as causing the dualities of grief-joy, pain-pleasure, birth-death, also brings about liberation from the chain of duality. Karma causes both bondage and liberation. The sun rises; that act unfolds the petals of the lotus flower, but folds the petals of the kumuda flower (water lily)! The sun sets; that act makes the good men hurry home to the company of their family, but it makes bad men hurry out of their dens to the places where they revel. When the palm falls on the mrdanga, the sound created is pleasant to the ear. But when it falls on an empty tin, the sound grates the ear. Know that Karma ruins or saves based on what you choose to do. What is the nature of the Karma that saves? Holding fast to Sivam (God), as the boy Maarkandeya did. By this, you can foil death and earn eternal joy.

Without surrender, there can be no liberation. As long as you cling to the narrow 'I', the four prison walls will close in on you. Cross out the 'I' and you are free. How to kill the 'I'? Place it at the feet of the Lord and say, “You, not I,” and you will be free from the burden that is crushing you. Associate always with the Niranjana — the vast, unlimited, the Divine. Dream, plan and work to merge with the Absolute! Transcend all the hurdles, by fixing your mind on your own infinity. Do not condemn your mind as a monkey; it is a fine instrument; it can help you win liberation or remain bonded - depends on how you manipulate it. It will carry out your orders to the minutest detail and can lead you along the royal road to the door of realization! Or it will take you about in the blind alleys! Use it wisely!

There is no truth (Satyam) without goodness (Sivam); there is no goodness without beauty (Sundaram). Truth alone can confer auspiciousness, and auspiciousness alone is the real beauty. Truth is beauty; joy is beauty. Falsehood and grief are ugly because they are unnatural. The effulgence of Truth will reveal goodness; do karma that is approved by the higher wisdom, not karma that is born of ignorance. Then, all karma will be auspicious, beneficial, and blessed. A dog caught in a room whose walls are mirrors sees in the myriad reflections not itself but rivals and competitors, other dogs that must be barked at. So, it tires itself out by jumping on this reflection, and when images also jump, it becomes mad with fury! The wise individual, however, sees one’s own reflections and is at peace: the person is happy that there are so many reflections of oneself all around. That is the attitude you must learn to possess, this will save you from needless bother.

Lamp dispels external darkness.

No other element in this world is as significant as light. It is light that shows us the way by dispelling darkness. Only with the help of light, everyone attends to their daily duties. The flame of a lamp has two significant qualities. One is to banish darkness; the other is its continuous upward movement. Even if a lamp is kept in a pit, the flame is directed upward. All Indian festivals have a sacred inner significance to remind people of their own innate and immanent Divinity; the upward movement of the flame, as said by the ancients, must remind you of the path to wisdom and the path to Divinity! Lamp dispels external darkness. To dispel the internal darkness of ignorance within, you need to have vairagya (renunciation) as the container, love as the oil, one pointed concentration as the wick, and tattwa jnana (spiritual wisdom) as the matchbox. Only when you have all these four can you light the lamp of wisdom.

“I am the Light.”

Do karma (activity) based on the spiritual wisdom that all is One! Let it be suffused with devotion, humility, love, compassion and nonviolence. If devotion is not filled with spiritual wisdom it will be light as a balloon, which drifts along any gust of wind. Mere wisdom will make your heart dry; devotion makes it soft with sympathy, and karma gives the hands something to do, something that will sanctify your every minute you live. That is why devotion is referred to as upasana which also means ‘dwelling near’, feeling the Presence, and sharing the sweetness of Divinity. The yearning for upasana prompts you to go on pilgrimages, to construct and renovate temples, to consecrate images and offer prescribed worship. All this is karma of a high order; they lead to spiritual wisdom. First, you start with the idea, “I am in the Light.” Then you feel, “The light is in me,” leading to the conviction, Do karma (activity) based on the spiritual wisdom that all is One! Practice the vocabulary of love – unlearn the language of hate and contempt.

Navaraathri is celebrated in commemoration of the victory of Daivatwam (Divinity) over Danavatvam (demons) through the intercession of the Mahashakti as Chandi, Durga and Kali. Deepavali commemorates the victory of heavenly over hellish influences, of virtue over vice, as symbolised by the victory of Krishna-Satyabhama over Narakasura, of the upward pull into Heaven and the drag down into Hell. Satya or Truth will always defeat the forces of falsehood. That is the inner significance of Satyabhama being the instrument which the Lord used to destroy Narakasura. When Narakasura was destroyed, implying, when the six foes of human beings (lust, anger, greed, infatuation, pride and jealousy), which drag them towards a fall are overpowered, the flame of wisdom will shine clearly, bright and beautiful. It is to demonstrate this truth that on Deepavali day, deepas or lamps are lit and arranged on every house, dispelling darkness, which is the home of evil and vice.

அம்பாளோட சரணம் தான் கதி

"நமக்கு ரொம்ப துக்கமோ, கஷ்டமோ வரச்சே, அம்பாள் பேர்ல கோபம் வர்றது ஸஹஜம். அம்பாள் நம்மள தண்டிச்சு கஷ்டம் குடுக்கற மாதிரிதோணினாலும், அவ மேல இருக்கற பக்தியை மட்டும் விட்டுடக்கூடாது! இன்னும் ஜாஸ்தியா நம்பிக்கை வெக்கணும். செல ஸமயம் அம்மா கொழந்தையை கோவிச்சுக்கறா.! ஓங்கி ரெண்டு அடி கூட வெக்கறா !

அப்போ, கொழந்தை நெஜமா துக்கப்படறது!... 'ஓ'!-ன்னு அழறது...! ஆனா, ஒடனே எந்த அம்மா அடிச்சாளோ... அவகிட்டயேதான் அது போறது... அடிச்ச கையையே பிடிச்சிக்கறது. அவளோட காலையே கட்டிண்டு அழறது...

....அதுமாதிரி, அம்பாளோட கொழந்தேளான நாமளும், துக்கம் வந்தா... அம்பாள்தான் அந்தக் கஷ்டத்தை குடுத்தா-ன்னு நெனச்சா... "எனக்கேம்மா இந்த தண்டனையைக் குடுத்தே? என்னால தாங்க முடியலியே ! ஒன்னை விட்டா... எனக்கு வேற யாரு இருக்கா?.." ன்னு அவ பாதத்தையே பிடிச்சிண்டு அழணும்.! மறுபடியும் அவகிட்டதான் போயாகணும்! வேற வழியே இல்ல!..."

Once Krishna pretended to suffer from an unbearable headache. With warm clothes wound around His head and red eyes, He rolled restlessly in bed. Queens Rukmini and Satyabhama tried many remedies that proved ineffective. Along with Narada, when they consulted Lord Krishna, He directed to bring the dust of the feet of a true devotee! In a trice, Narada manifested himself in the presence of some celebrated devotees, but they were too humble to offer dust of their feet to be used for their Lord as a drug! Narada returned disappointed. Krishna asked, “Did you ask Gopis?” Narada hurried with disbelief! When the Gopis heard this, without a second thought, they shook the dust off their feet and filled his hands! Even before Narada reached Dwaraka, Krishna’s headache had disappeared! The Lord enacted this five-day drama to teach that self-condemnation is also egoism and when ego goes, you feel neither superior nor inferior, and a devotee must obey the Lord’s command without demur.

There are three types of people: (1) non-believers, who consider worldly objects as real; (2) those who believe in a will behind all that they see and experience, and bow to that will. They try to understand that will, adhere to it and will not run against it; and (3) those who have realised that the objective world has only relative value. The latter two will not blame anyone, including the Lord, for their ills and pains. Until the son or daughter is a minor, they will not be entitled to their share of parental property. When your spiritual practices are not strong enough to chart your own destiny, you suffer and struggle. When you say, “I, I, I”, you are on your own, you may even stumble and fall. Say, “Not I, but You,” then all things are added unto you! Results of past actions simply will melt away like fog before the sun when you call out to the Lord!

If you stare at the sun for a second and then turn your eye to other things around, you will find that there is a dark patch over them, and you cannot recognise them. Similarly, once you get a vision of God, who is more effulgent than a thousand suns, you can no longer recognise the multiplicity called nature (prakriti). The world is black, it is blocked; indeed, you can no longer recognise or deal with variety once you have had a vision of the basic Unity. Take the screen in the cinema theatre. When the film is on, you do not see the screen, you see only the play. When the show is over, you see just a screen, a screen that has no message — neither voice nor name nor form nor colour nor creed. The entire screen was lost in the picture. The screen is Brahman. Brahman is Truth (Satyam); the Universe is Brahman. That is Being (Sat); this is Awareness (Chit). Knowing this and dealing with both is Bliss (Anandam).

Just reflect on this for a minute: How and why did men and women forget their innate Divinity? How did they fall into this delusion of little-ness? Inquire in such manner - then you will know that it must be the result of the mind running after momentary pleasures. What then is the remedy? Mastery over mountains of information has been attained by people now; but wisdom has lagged behind! Hence, your capacity to probe and progress into the realm of the Universal and the Absolute must be developed. The secret to success in this journey is just one word: Worship! Do everything as worship. ‘You become that which you feel (Yat bhavam tat bhavati).’ You can get the feeling for the Divine only if you have a taste of the love of the Divine. Divine incarnates as human (Avatar) to give you a taste of that sweet love so that the yearning for the Lord will be firmly implanted in your heart.

There can be no garland without the string that runs through the flowers. There can be no person without the inner kinship that God ensures for each. He is the Brahmasutra (the Brahman String), invisible but inevitable. When a balloon is blown, it bursts and the air inside it merges with the vast limitless expanse outside. Expansion is the heart of education. Your love must expand and fill your homes, society, and finally, burst these bonds and merge world-over. A drop of water held in the palm evaporates soon; it is too alone. But drop it into the sea and it survives as part of the sea. It assumes the name and taste, the majesty and might of the sea! Cultivate Love; sow the seeds of love in all hearts. Shower Love on the desert sands, let the green shoots, lovely flowers, sweet harvest of nectar of joy, peace and bliss be earned by every being. That is My Wish, My Mission, My Vow.

அவன் சொந்த கடனை அடைப்பதே அவனுக்கு திண்டாட்டமே. இதில் தாவர உயிரினங்களுக்கு பாவ கணக்கு குறைவு. மாமிச உயிரினங்கள் அதற்கு பாவ கணக்கு அதிகம். எந்த உணவை மனிதன் உண்டாலும் அந்த உணவான உயிர்களின் பாவ கணக்கை அந்த மனிதனே அடைக்க வேண்டும்.

தாராளமாக அசைவம் உண்ணலாம் இதில் கடவுளுக்கு என்ன பிரச்சனை ???
