Krodha (anger) is a deadly poison. It affects others by its fumes, manifested through the eye, the tongue and the hands. The seed of a poison tree sprouts into a poisonous plant and when it becomes a big tree, its leaves, flowers and fruits will also certainly be poisonous. So too, the person addicted to anger can only emanate poison, through thought, word and deed. An angry thought is like a pebble thrown into the calm waters of the Manasa-sarovar (Lake of the Mind) present inside man. It creates a circular effect which spreads through the entire lake. Anger is very injurious to the progress of youth. Strive by all means to prevent the poison entering your mental make-up. Cultivate love, kindliness, the spirit of service, and encourage all thoughts of cooperation with others. See the Divinity in each one, as you must see it in your own selves.

Man is a mixture of daiva, danava and manava (god, demon and man). The wickedness of the danava nature can be overcome by daya (the quality of mercy and charity), sympathy and the feeling of fellowship; the pride of the daiva aspect can be overcome by dama (self-control), detachment, and renunciation; the egoism of the manava aspect can be overcome by following dharmaprescribed by the impartial sages who have been purified by penance, and by canalising their instincts and impulses into fruitful fields. When these three are thus sublimated, manava(man) is transformed into Madhava (God). Each one must take up this process of purification, by discovering his faults and failings and realise the road to success. If you have daya, dama and dharma (sympathy, self-control and righteousness), that will take you beyond the realm of the three qualities of the mind; there is no need then for getting a Name or mantra from the Guru and repeating it.

Once you have secured a Guru, leave everything to him, even the desire to achieve liberation. He knows you more than you yourself ever can. He will direct you as much as is good for you. Your duty is only to obey and to smother the tendency to drift away from Him. There is no need then for getting a Name or mantra from the Guru and repeating it. The command of the Guru or the Lord is even more important than the Name of the Guru or the Name of the Lord. Of what use is the repetition of the Name, without at the same time purifying the impulses by the observance of His commands. You must make the best use of the Guru, as you must of this Puttaparthi itself. You must acquire here the skills for winning shanti and santosha (peace of mind and bliss), the grace of God, the lessons of spiritual practices, and the fruits of satsang (company of the holy); do not fritter away your energy and time, seeking sensory satisfaction in ungodly company.

This day is called Vyasa Poornima. It is a holy day which must be celebrated with prayer and contrition. That alone can cleanse the heart, not feasting or fasting, which affect only the body. The fact that Sage Vyasa is associated with this day or that Lord Rama or Krishna is connected with some other day is merely an opportunity to mark the day as outstandingly important, when something holy has to be done. It is a full moon today, when the moon shines without any hindrance; when moonlight is bright, cool and full. The mind of man is compared to the moon, for it is as wayward as the moon with its swing from brightness to darkness; this day, the mind too has to be bright, effulgent and cool. Sage Vyasa is the Lokaguru (teacher to the entire world): he is Divine Effulgence. But, even Vyasa can only show you the road. You have to traverse it alone.

See God in everyone you meet; see God in everything you handle. His Mystery is immanent in all that is material and non-material; as a matter of fact, it has been discovered that there is no matter or material. It is all God, an expression of His Mystery! Derive joy from the springs of joy within you and without you; advance, do not stand still or recede. Every minute must mark a forward step. Rejoice that it is given to you to recognise God in all. Welcome all chances to sing His Glory, to hear His chronicle, and to share His presence with others. God has His hands in all handiworks, His feet on all altitudes, His eyes beyond all horizons, and His face before every face. The Kalpavriksha (Wish-fulfilling tree) in the human heart is being suffocated by wild greenery and bushy briars. Remove this stifling undergrowth and the tree will grow and yield fruit.

Nature is a great store, where all things that help you grasp the truth are found. That truth is first cognised as, “All this is imbued with Brahman(Divinity), directed by and composed of Brahman (Sarvam Brahma Mayam)!” Then the seeker rises to a greater awareness of, “All this is Brahmam (Sarvam Brahmam),” only it appears as something else for a time to the unopened eyes! The final state is one where there is not even an, “All this (Sarvam)” to be posited as Brahman; there is just Brahman: the one and only. This lesson is learnt by people when they study Nature, analysing it and trying to understand it. It is at the mother’s lap that the child learns the art of living; so also it is Nature (Prakriti) that teaches one how to succeed in the hard struggle and win supreme peace (Prasanthi). Break the laws of Nature, and she boxes you in the ear; obey her commands and listen to her warnings, and she will pass on to you your heritage of immortality.

Some people today do not do any physical exercises and lead a sedentary life. My advice to office-goers and students is that it is good for them to commute by cycle at least five or six kilometers a day. This cycling exercise is very useful to maintain your good health and to reduce your expenses on automobiles. Another big advantage is to avoid accidents and reduce atmospheric pollution caused by the release of harmful fumes from automobiles. The carbon-dioxide smoke from motor vehicles and factories is already polluting the air in cities and affecting the ozone layer above the earth. All the five elements are affected immensely by pollution today. Hence you should try to reduce the use of automobiles and control the emission of harmful industrial effluents. You should always act in harmony with Nature, which is reflection of Divinity. Your primary task now is to purify the environment you live in.

The atheists (nastikas) are afflicted with a fever that spoils their sense of taste; they find everything bitter. A believer (astika) feels the taste as is: bitter as bitter, sour as sour, sweet as sweet. But the person of realisation (yastika) experiences all life events as sweet, filled with the Lord’s Grace. Prahlada was such a person; he was beaten, trampled upon, and cast into fire and water, but he tasted only sweetness at all times. He overcame every calamity with the reinforcement derived from the name Narayana in the heart. There is a secret spring in the heart that will well up when the name is uttered and that will slake your thirst. When in difficulty, pray for His guidance before jumping in any direction. Humans advice only as far as their cleverness goes, but the Lord will reveal to you the way out of every dilemma. Ask the Lord directly and He will not only answer you but also redeem you!

Women, who were the bulwarks of Indian culture, the guardians of ancient spiritual wealth, are fast succumbing to flimsy attractions of foppish culture, as is evident from the modes of living and social behaviour of present times. This is the result of the artificial and empty system of education, as well as the subtle pulls of cheap literature and shoddy films. Today’s young women are the mothers and teachers of the generation of leaders to come. Everyone must respect their five Mothers: Deha mata, the mother who gave birth to you; Go mata, the cow that gives sustaining milk; Bhu mata, the land that grows the crops; Desha mata, your motherland that gives protection, care, love, rights and chances to serve and elevate yourself to great heights, and Veda mata, the spiritual treasure that reveals the purpose of life and leads you to Self-Realization. The Deha mata must reveal to the child the glories of all the others; so her responsibility is the greatest and most crucial.

Atma vidya (science of the Self) alone can fix the mind in Dharma. The students here will be given a glimpse of that Atma vidya; they will develop a keen desire to know about it. It is that knowledge and desire that will stand them in good stead when they encounter the problems of life. Prahlada told his father, "the father who leads his son to God is the only father who deserves the reverence due to that role." Fathers who lead their sons into the vortex of sense pleasure, the volcanoes of physical passion, the boggy marsh of pride and pomp are unaware of their duties and responsibilities. So too, an educational system that keeps children away from God - the only refuge, the only kinsman, the only guide and guard - is really a system where the blind are engaged in blinding those who depend on them.

Love exists for love and nothing else; it is spontaneous and imparts delight. Love sees with the heart, not eyes. It listens not through ears but with tranquility of your heart. It speaks not with tongue but using compassion. Love has many synonyms – compassion and kindness also mean Love. Love can emanate only from the heart and not any other source. Love is immortal, nectarous, blissful and infinite. A heart filled with love is boundless. Just as rivers with different names merge in the ocean and become one with it, love in many forms enters the ocean of your heart and merges with it. Your thoughts, words and looks should be filled with love. This is divine love. One saturated with divine love can never be subject to suffering. People today are affected by praise or blame. But those filled with divine love transcend praise or censure. They are unaffected by criticism or flattery, and treat joy and sorrow, profit and loss, victory and defeat, alike.

You insure life because you are not quite sure of it, isn't it? To assure yourselves of a comfortable life, you are persuaded to insure and pay premia. But God alone can guard you against the terror of death. You can derive happiness by controlling and conquering the mind and the senses. Iron and steel are produced in blast furnaces, where ore is melted and other components are added. The molten iron is carried in pails by cranes and poured by ladles. Though the ladle handles heat, it is immune to it. The crane holds other materials, but does not hold itself! The mind is like that. It holds, it manipulates, it handles all other things but it cannot carry itself or manipulate and transmute itself! The mind cannot hold the holder, that is to say, the Inner Motivator, God. So in order to save yourselves from the waywardness of the mind and its minions, you have to hold on to the 'Holder’.

Divinity is in everyone and everywhere. You may not see Him with your physical eye, but you can visualise Him with your inner vision. Air exists, you cannot deny this even though you cannot see it or catch it. When it is hot, you can experience coolness either by using a hand fan or an electric fan. Air has not come from the fan. But whoever uses the fan receives and feels the air. Similarly God exists like air. The intellect is the fan. If you turn it toward Atma, you get Atmananda (Atmic bliss). On the other hand, you turn it towards the body, and you get temporary bodily pleasure. For crossing the ocean of life, you cannot depend on the body which is perishable and transient. It is indeed full of dirt and filth, flesh and bones. Hence you must surrender to the Divine within. Once you have God to help you, there is nothing that you cannot achieve.

Ancient sages who experienced the fragrance of the Divine searched for the form. They sought Him in forests and bushes. They had renounced everything and made a lot of sacrifices, still they could not find the source. Some even gave up midway, being satisfied with the fragrance that they had experienced. But others, with relentless determination, were able to find the flower eventually. There were yet others who could not experience the fragrance itself due to ‘severe cold’, and were termed atheists. Even though they had the nose they could not experience the fragrance of divine Bliss; they indeed are the unfortunate ones. But those who were able to experience this bliss exclaimed in ecstasy, “Vedahametham Purusham Mahantam (We have realised the Supreme Personality of the Godhead).” How is one to realise this? In every human being, the bliss or Ananda emanates from the heart, just as fragrance from a flower. The heart truly is complete and full.

A single household now has ten factions and parties. Those who cannot reform their own homes have started reforming the country and are advising others about cooperation and harmonious living. Knowledge of the Atmaas the very basis of all beings is now forgotten, and that is the cause for all the unrest, confusion, and moral crisis today! Decline in the discipline of constant thought of the Lord (namasmarana) is the root-cause of the decline of this country. It is to awaken the sleeping and communicate this message to them that God descends. If anyone calls you weak, do not believe it. You have intelligence, discipline, spiritual capacity, consciousness of others’ excellences, awareness of your faults, and eagerness to improve yourself — then how can you be called weak? Remember, a prayerful life will not yield to the fury of passion; it will be a source of strength and cooperation. I bless that all of you may have lives full of joy and peace.

Let Me tell you - the greatest beauty aid for women is virtue! Attach importance to nishta (discipline and steadiness) and not to nashta (breakfast or food)! You can miss food but not discipline. Live a regulated disciplined life from now on; make it a habit and an armour that will protect you from harm. Pray to God and recite His name or meditate on His glory for some fixed period of time every day; you will find it amply rewarding. Don’t say, “Let me have a taste of the reward, and then I shall start the spiritual practice.” Practise, and the experience will follow; it must follow. If you desire that others honour you, you should honour them too. If others must serve you, serve them first. Love begets love; trust engenders trust. Self-aggrandizement and selfishness will bring disaster. As a matter of fact, no joy can equal the joy of serving others.

What a pitiable fate is this? The little ego in man is fed into a huge conflagration by the mind and the senses, and one is caught in the fire of distress. Egoism makes a person see glory in petty achievements, happiness in trivial acquisitions, and joy in temporary authority over others. But, the Immortal within is awaiting discovery to confer bliss and liberation from birth and death. There is a definite technique by which the Immortal spark can be discovered. Though it may appear difficult, each step forward makes the next one easier and a mind made ready by discipline, in a flash discovers that the Divine is the basis of creation. There is no shortcut to this consummation. You must give up all the impediments you have accumulated so far and become light for the journey. Lust, greed, anger, malice, conceit, envy, hate - all these pet tendencies must be shed.

The search for truth must become your daily spiritual discipline; every moment must be used for this primary duty. Truth can reflect itself in your intelligence only when your intelligence is purified by penance (tapas). Tapas means all acts undertaken with higher motives, all activities indicating yearning for the spirit, repentance for past blunders, staunch determination to adhere to virtue and self-control, and finally, serene equanimity in the face of success or failure. It is tapas that fosters renunciation and discipline. This discipline is essential when the temptations to deviate are so many like it is now. In this iron age, when darkness is enveloping the mind of people, any little lamp that can light the steps is most welcome. That is why I advise you to resort to good deeds, good conduct, and good behaviour (sat-karma, sad-achara and sath-pravartana), so that you are constantly established in the presence of the Lord!

When you suspect the strength of the foundation of a house, you are afraid to enter it; when you suspect the skill of the manufacturer, you are nervous to ride in the car. The present times have become an age of fear, anxiety and ashanti (absence of peace) because people do not have deep faith in the Creator. Bhishma, Shankara and other Jnanis (wise ones) knew that the Lord is the basis (Aadhara) for all creation and had no fear at all. In recent times, Mahatma Gandhi relied on the Lord's Grace and His Might and won freedom for the Nation. Know that the Lord is the unseen foundation on which your life is built. He is your source, sustenance and strength. Without His Will, no leaf can turn, no blade of grass can quiver. What firmer foundation can you desire than this? Having known the Lord, the Omnipotent Power as the mainspring of your life, you should not fear any more!

ராணுவத்தின் பிடியில் பாகிஸ்தான் (துக்ளக் தலையங்கம்)

              வருகிற ஜூலை 25 - ஆம் தேதி பாகிஸ்தானில் தேர்தல் நடக்கவிருக்கிறது. இந்த நிலையில், ஜூலை 5 - ஆம் தேதி லஞ்ச - ஊழல் வழக்கில் விசாரணை நீதிமன்றம், பாகிஸ்தானின் முன்னாள் பிரதமர் நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃபுக்கு 10 ஆண்டுகளும், அவரது மகளுக்கு 7 ஆண்டுகளும், அவரது மருமகனுக்கு ஓராண்டும் சிறைத் தண்டனை விதித்துத் தீர்ப்புக் கூறியிருக்கிறது. நம் நாட்டில் காங்கிரஸைப் போல, முஸ்லிம் லீக்தான் பாகிஸ்தானின் பிரதானக் கட்சி. நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃப் அதன் பிரபலமான தலைவர். இத்தீர்ப்புக்கு முன்பாகவே நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃப் தேர்தலில் நிற்கக் கூடாது என்று கடந்த ஆண்டு ஜூலை மாதம் பாகிஸ்தானின் உச்ச நீதிமன்றமும் உத்தரவிட்டது. அவருடைய வழக்கு விசாரணைக்கு வருவதற்கு முன்பே, உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் அவரை குற்றவாளி என்று சமிக்ஞை காட்டிய பிறகு, கீழ் நீதிமன்றத்தில் அவருக்கு எப்படி நியாயம் கிடைக்கும்? பாகிஸ்தான் ராணுவத்தின் விருப்பப்படிதான் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம், ஷெரீஃப் பதவிக்கு வருவதை தடை செய்தது என்று நாம் முன்பே எழுதியிருந்தோம். பாகிஸ்தானை இதுவரை ராணுவம்தான் பாதி காலம் ஆண்டிருக்கிறது. 2013 வரை ஒரு முறை கூட, பாகிஸ்தானில் தேர்தல் மூலமாக ஆட்சி மாற்றம் நடக்கவே இல்லை. அரசாங்கம், பாகிஸ்தானின் உளவு ஸ்தாபனமான ஐ.எஸ்.ஐ., இந்தியாவை எதிர்க்கும் தீவிரவாத அமைப்புகள் மற்றும் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் அனைத்தும், ராணுவத்தின் கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள்தான் செயல்படுகின்றன. ராணுவத்துடன் ஒத்துப் போகாத அரசியல் கட்சிகளின் ஆட்சியை ராணுவம் கவிழ்த்து விடும். அதே காரணத்தினால் நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃபை, ராணுவத்தின் விருப்பத்திற்கிணங்க தேர்தலில் போட்டியிடாமல் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் தடுத்திருக்கிறது.

மூன்று முறை பதவி நீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்ட ஷெரீஃப்

கடந்த 25 ஆண்டுகளாக நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃப்தான் பாகிஸ்தானில் மக்கள் செல்வாக்கு அதிகம் பெற்ற தலைவர். அவர் ராணுவத்துக்குக் கட்டுப்பட மறுத்ததால், அவரை ராணுவம் நேரடியாகவும், நீதிமன்றங்களின் மூலமாகவும் மூன்று முறை பதவியிலிருந்து நீக்கியது. அவர் 1990 - ல் பிரதமரானார். 1993 - ல் லஞ்ச - ஊழல் குற்றச்சாட்டுக் காரணமாக, அவர் பதவியிலிருந்து நீக்கப்பட்டார். 1997 - ல் மீண்டும் பிரதமரானார். 1999 - ல் பிரதமர் ஷெரீஃப், இந்தியப் பிரதமர் வாஜ்பாயுடன் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, ஷெரீஃபுக்கே தெரியாமல், ராணுவத் தளபதி பர்வேஸ் முஷாரஃப் பாரதத்துடன் கார்கில் போரைத் துவக்கினார். அந்த உண்மை அம்பலமானவுடனேயே அமெரிக்க அதிபர் க்ளின்டன் தலையிட, நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃப் போர் நிறுத்த அறிவிப்பு செய்தார். அதனால் கோபப்பட்ட ராணுவம் அதிரடி புரட்சி செய்து, ஷெரீஃபை பதவி நீக்கம் செய்து, முஷாரஃப் தலைமையில் ஆட்சியைக் கைப்பற்றியது.

உயிருக்குப் பயந்து ஷெரீஃப் நாட்டை விட்டே ஓடி சௌதி அரேபியாவில் தஞ்சம் புகுந்தார். 2007 -ல் ஷெரீஃப் நாடு திரும்பி, 2008 தேர்தலில் நின்றார். அந்தத் தேர்தலில் பெனசீர் பூட்டோவின் கட்சி வெற்றி பெற்றது. அதற்குப் பிறகு 2013 - ல் முதல்முதலாக நேர்மையாக நடந்த தேர்தலில் நவாஸ் ஷெரீஃப் மகத்தான வெற்றி பெற்று பிரதமரானார். 2016 - ஆம் ஆண்டு பனாமா தீவு ரகசிய கம்பெனிகளின் ஆவணங்கள் அம்பலமானபோது, அதில் ஷெரீஃப் குடும்பத்துக்கு லண்டனில் வீடு மற்றும் சொத்துக்கள் இருப்பதாகத் தெரிய வந்தது. அதை விசாரிக்க, ராணுவத்தின் விருப்பத்திற்கேற்ப, உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் ஒரு குழுவை அமைத்தது. அதன் அறிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில் ஊழல் வழக்கு தாக்கல் செய்யப்படுவதற்கு முன்பே, அவரைக் குற்றவாளி என்று அறிவித்து ஷெரீஃப் தேர்தலில் நிற்க தடை விதித்தது.

சிறைத் தண்டனை விதித்து தீர்ப்பு வந்தவுடன், தற்போது லண்டனில் இருக்கும் ஷெரீஃப், நான் பாகிஸ்தானை நேசித்ததற்கு 10 ஆண்டுகள் சிறை வாசம்தான் வெகுமதி என்றால், நான் பாகிஸ்தானுக்குத் திரும்ப வந்து விலங்கையும், சிறைத் தண்டனையையும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வேன். சில ராணுவத் தளபதிகளையும், நீதிபதிகளையும் அடிமைப்படுத்தியிருக்கும் பாகிஸ்தானை விடுதலை செய்யும் வரை போராடுவேன்" என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்.

ஷெரீஃப் மீது ஏன் இந்த வெறுப்பு?

பாகிஸ்தான் ராணுவம் ஏன் ஷெரீஃபை வெறுக்கிறது? அவர் இஸ்லாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த முயற்சி செய்தார்; ராணுவத்தை எதிர்த்து கார்கில் போரை நிறுத்தினார்; இந்தியாவுடன் நல்லுறவை விரும்பினார்; 1993 மும்பை பயங்கரவாதத் தாக்குதலை பாகிஸ்தான்தான் செய்தது என்பதை சமீபத்தில் ஒப்புக் கொண்டார்; அவருடைய ஆட்சியில் ராணுவத்தின் செல்வாக்கைக் குறைக்க முயற்சி செய்தார். அதனால்தான் பாகிஸ்தானின் ராணுவமும், பாகிஸ்தானின் தீவிரவாதிகளும் ஷெரீஃபை வெறுக்கிறார்கள். பெரும்பான்மை மக்களின் ஆதரவு பெற்ற பிரபல அரசியல் கட்சியான முஸ்லிம் லீக்கையும், ஷெரீஃபையும் ஒழித்து விட்டு, முன்னாள் கிரிக்கெட் வீரரான இம்ரான்கான் தலைமையில் நடக்கும் பாகிஸ்தான் தெஹ்ரீக் - ஏ - இன்ஸாஃப் கட்சியை தன் கைப்பொம்மையாக பதவியில் அமர்த்த பாகிஸ்தான் ராணுவம் திட்டமிட்டிருக்கிறது.

இம்ரான்கான் பதவிக்கு வந்தால், பாகிஸ்தானை தீவிரவாதிகளின் கையில் ஒப்படைத்து விடுவார் என்று அவருடைய முன்னாள் மனைவியே கூறியிருக்கிறார். ராணுவத்திற்கேற்ப ஆட்சி செய்வேன் என்று இம்ரான்கான் கூறியிருக்கிறார். பாகிஸ்தானின் ராணுவமும், தீவிரவாதிகளும் ஏன் ஷெரீஃபை ஒதுக்கி, இம்ரான்கானை அரியணையில் அமர்த்த முயற்சி செய்கிறது என்பது புரிந்து கொள்ளக் கூடியதே. இப்படி இருந்தும் கருத்து கணிப்புகள் ஷெரீஃப் கட்சிதான் முன்னிலையில் இருப்பதாகக் கூறுகின்றன.

ராணுவத்துக்கென்று ஒரு நாடு பாகிஸ்தான்

மறைமுகமாக பாகிஸ்தானின் அரசை மிரட்டி ஆண்டு வந்த ராணுவம், நேரடியாகவே தன் செல்வாக்கைப் பயன்படுத்தி, ஷெரீஃபை நீதிமன்றத்தின் மூலமாகப் போட்டியிலிருந்து விலக்கி, இம்ரான்கான் கையில் பாகிஸ்தானை ஒப்படைக்க மும்முரமாக வேலை செய்து வருகிறது. ஏற்கெனவே இஸ்லாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளிடம் சிக்கியிருக்கும் பாகிஸ்தான், அவர்களை ஊக்குவிக்கும் இம்ரான்கான் பதவிக்கு வந்தால், பாகிஸ்தான் அராஜகத்தை நோக்கிச் செல்லும் என்பதில் சந்தேகமேயில்லை. அதை பாகிஸ்தானிய ராணுவம் விரும்புகிறது.

அராஜகம் உருவானால்தானே, ராணுவத்தினால் தான் அமைதியை நிலைநாட்ட முடியும் என்று பாசாங்கு செய்து, ஆட்சியைக் கைப்பற்ற முடியும். பாகிஸ்தானிய ராணுவத்தின் கையில் ஆயுதங்கள் மட்டும் இல்லை; லஞ்ச - லாவண்யங்கள் மூலமாக பாகிஸ்தான் ராணுவத்தின் ஆளுமையில் அறக் கட்டளைகள் உள்ளன. பாகிஸ்தான் பங்குச்சந்தையின் 70 சதவிகிதப் பங்குகளை அவை வைத்திருக்கின்றன. பாகிஸ்தானின் பொருளாதாரமே ராணுவத்தின் கையில்.

எல்லா நாடுகளுக்கும் ராணுவம் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், ராணுவத்துக்காக இருக்கிற ஒரு நாடு பாகிஸ்தான் மட்டுமே. ராணுவம் இல்லையென்றால், பாகிஸ்தானை பாரதம் விழுங்கி விடும் என்கிற அச்சத்தை 33 ஆண்டுகளாக ராணுவ ஆட்சியும், தீவிரவாத இயக்கங்களும் பாகிஸ்தானியர் மனதில் உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறது. எனவே, இந்தியாவை எதிர்ப்பதே பாகிஸ்தானின் தேசியமாகவும் மாறியிருக்கிறது. அதனால்தான் பாகிஸ்தானும் இந்தியாவும் ஒரே சமயத்தில் விடுதலை அடைந்தாலும், பாகிஸ்தானில் இன்று வரை ஜனநாயகம் வேரூன்றவில்லை. ராணுவம் மட்டுமே ஒரு நாட்டை அமைதியாகவும், ஒற்றுமையாகவும் வைத்திருக்க முடியாது. இப்படி மக்கள் செல்வாக்குள்ள தலைவர்களையும் கட்சிகளையும் அடக்கி, ராணுவம் நேர்முகமாகவும், மறைமுகமாகவும் தொடர்ந்து ஆட்சி நடத்தினால், விரைவிலேயே பாகிஸ்தான் சிதறிப் போவதற்கும் வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது.

இது எதுவுமேதேர்தலின் போது மக்களுக்கு தெரியாதா? ஜெயலலிதாவால் பிரச்சாரம் கூட செய்யமுடியவில்லை.... கருணாநிதியும் அதே கதிதான்...விஜயகாந்த்தின் உளறல்கள் உலகப்பிரசித்தம்...ஆனால் , இவர்களின் உடல்நலம் குறித்த தகவல்கள் திட்டமிட்டு மறைக்கப்பட்டன.... மீறி யாராவது பேசமுயன்றால் தனிநபர் தாக்குதல் என்று ஓலமிட ஒரு கூட்டமே கிளம்பிவந்திருக்கும்....இதன் விளைவு என்னவென்றால் , நாம் யாரையோ மனதில் வைத்து ஓட்டுப்போட , இப்போது யார்யாரோ நம்மை ஆள்கிறார்கள்... விபத்து [ ஒய்.எஸ்.ஆர்.ரெட்டி..]அல்லது சதிச்செயல் [இந்திராகாந்தி ] என்றால் பரவாயில்லை....ஆனால் தீராநோயாளிகள் நம்மை ஆள அனுமதிப்பது என்ன மாதிரியான மடமை?

கிட்டத்தட்ட மூன்று தசாப்தங்களாக தமிழகத்தை ஆண்ட முதல்வர்கள் அனைவருமே தீவிரமான வியாதியஸ்தர்கள்தான்,..
இதோ , இப்போது கூட ஸ்டாலின் ஆறு மாதத்துக்கு ஒருமுறை லண்டன் செல்கிறார்...அவருக்கு லூகேமியா என்றும் , ஒவ்வொருமுறையும் முழுமையாக ரத்தம் மாற்றுவதற்கே அவர் [blood transfushion ] அங்கு செல்கிறார் என்றும் செய்திகள் வருகின்றன...அழகிரி கருணாநிதியிடம் , " ஸ்டாலினா ? அவனுக்கு இருக்குற வியாதிக்கு அவன் ஆறு மாசத்துல செத்துடுவான் " என்று தன்னிடம் கூறியதாக கருணாநிதியே ஒரு பேட்டியில் தெரிவித்தார்...அதையொட்டித்தான் அழகிரி கட்சியிலிருந்தும் நீக்கப்பட்டார்...
இன்றுவரை ஸ்டாலின் உடல்நலம் பற்றி திமுக தரப்பில் வாயே திறப்பதில்லை...

சத்துணவுத் திட்டம் ஆரம்பித்து பாலங்கள் கட்டுவது தொட்டு அரசு வேலை வாங்குவது வரை அனைத்திலும் ஊழல் மூலம் பணம் பணம் பணம் என்று கொள்ளை அடித்து கூட்டம் இந்த இரண்டு திராவிட அரசியல்வாதிகள் கூட்டம். கவுன்சிலர் கூட கோடிகளில் சொத்துகளை குவிக்க ஒரு கூட்டமாக நாட்டைக் கொள்ளை அடிக்கும் கூட்டம் தான் இந்தத் திராவிட கூட்டம் தவிர எந்தச் சித்தாந்தமும் மண்ணாங்கட்டியும் கிடையாது இவர்களுக்கு. இவர்கள் நோக்கம் கொள்ளை அடித்து பங்கு பிரிப்பது மட்டுமே அன்றி வேறு இல்லை.

அடித்த கொள்ளையை அரசு ஊழியர்களோடும் , ஆசிரியர்களோடும் பிரித்து கொண்டு இங்கே ஒரு சமூகத்தையே கெடுத்து நாசம் செய்தது மட்டும் அல்லாது - அதில் ஒரு சிறு தொகையை மக்களுக்கும் வோட்டுக்கு பணமாகக் கொடுத்து மொத்த சமூகத்தையே சீரழித்துக் கற்பழித்து நாசம் செய்த திராவிட கூட்டமே அழித்தொழிக்கும் நாள் நெருங்குகிறது...

மக்கள் அனைவரும் ஒன்றுகூடித் தேர் இழுக்கத் தயார் ஆவோம்... ஆன்மீக அரசியலே கொண்டு இந்த கேடுகெட்ட அயோக்கிய கும்பலை வீழ்த்துவோம். திராவிட அரசியலின் சூழ்ச்சி அறிந்து ஒன்று கூட வேண்டிய நேரம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது. உங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவர் சிந்தனையும் திராவிட தறுதலைகள் ஆட்சி முடிவு கட்ட வேண்டும் என்பதாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

இங்கே 2014க்கு முன் நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்களுக்கு நல்ல பெயர் இருந்ததா இல்லையா ஆதரவு இருந்ததா இல்லையா என்பதைத் தாண்டி - அவர்க்குக் கெட்ட பெயர் கிடையாது என்பது தான் உண்மை. ஆனால் எப்படிக் கடந்த 3வருடத்தில் எப்படித் திட்டமிட்டு அவர் செய்த எந்த நல்ல விசயமும் மக்களுக்குச் சென்று சேராது - எந்நேரமும் மோடி வெறுப்பை மக்களிடம் சென்று சேர்த்தார்கள் திராவிட கூட்டம்???? அந்த தந்திரத்தை புரிந்து கொள்வது வாக்குரிமை உள்ள ஒவ்வொருவரும் தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டியது அவசியம் - இல்லை இங்கே திராவிட அரசியலை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டு வருவது சாத்தியம் இல்லை.

In a vessel filled with some water, when the vessel moves, water also moves. If the vessel is steady, the water will also be steady and you can see your own image! But if the water shakes, your image too shakes. Similarly to meditate, you must keep your body still. Your body is like the vessel, and your mind is the water inside. If your body moves, your mind inside will be agitated. Therefore control your mind and make it steady by keeping your back straight and body steady. The Kundalini power travels from Mooladhara, at the base of the spinal column, to the Sahasrara, thousand-petalled energy centre, in the crown of the head. Therefore, head, neck and body must be straight, with no bends. This is extremely important for students and seekers. I often ask students, "Why do you study? To become steady!" From young age, keep your body under control, you can achieve very useful things in life!

Today the spiritual exercises are confined to listening to talks and not to practising the teachings. Listening has become a kind of disease. Merely after listening, people go about bragging that they know everything. This crazy boastfulness is deepening people's ignorance. One should ruminate over what has been heard. After rumination, one should do Nididhyasana (put into practice the lessons). Only then there is the triple purity of thought, word and deed. Today people are content with mere listening to discourses. This will not lead to Realisation. The practice of Nama Likhita Japam(repeated writing of the Lord’s Name as a spiritual exercise) promotes harmony in thought, word and deed (first think of the Lord’s Name, then utter it and write). All these three processes should be carried out only with a pure heart.

These days when one goes on a picnic, one takes a mirror, a comb and a handkerchief. Why do people keep them? While travelling, wind may blow their hair out of place, so they use a mirror and comb to tidy it. These help you look beautiful. Similarly, don’t you need a few tools to correct the disturbed beauty of your mind? Just as your mirror tells you whether your hair is disheveled or not, the utility of devotion reveals the state of your mind! With this clean mirror, it will be easy to see whether there is impurity in the mind or not. When we recognise that the mind is disturbed, we must correct it immediately and to do so, we need the comb of wisdom! Detachment (Vairagyam) is the cloth that wipes the dirt from our heart. As you journey along life, wherever you are, always carry the virtues of devotion, wisdom and detachment.

Whatever scriptures you may study, whatever spiritual efforts (sadhanas) you may practise or pilgrimages you may undertake, unless one succeeds in getting rid of the impurities in the heart, life will remain worthless and meaningless. Purification of the heart is the essence of all scriptural teachings and the basic goal of life. No spiritual study or sadhana can help in purifying your heart unless you makes the effort yourself. And when the heart is purified, it becomes a worthy abode for the Divine. Recognising this fact, the Bhagavad Gita has indicated a three-stage path to Divinity: engaging the body in good deeds, using the mind to develop good thoughts and human qualities, and contemplating on God through Upasana (worship of the Divine). Through this, any individual can reach the stage where, like a river joining the ocean, they merge in the Divine (Brahman).

A farmer desirous of raising crop must remove all weeds from his field. All varieties of weeds adversely affect the crop. Hence weeding is an essential pre-condition to get a good yield. Similarly, a spiritual aspirant eager to realise bliss (Atmananda), must remove from one’s heart the various manifestations of rajo and tamo gunas (qualities of passion and dullness) in the form of malice, desire, greed, anger, hatred and jealousy. These six types of enemies of man are the children of rajo and tamo gunas. None can experience the joy and bliss of the soul as long as these weeds are present. The entire world is a manifestation of the three gunas. Of these three, rajo and tamo gunas are the source of all trouble, sorrow, grief and problems. The six attributes of tamo guna are sleep, drowsiness, fear, anger, laziness and inertia. Hence Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to remove the rajo and tamo gunas from his heart.

The performance of Vaidika Karmas (actions prescribed by the scriptures) like sacrificial rites (yagnas), charity and penance, is regarded as punya karmas or meritorious actions. While engaged in these acts, if you are concerned with worldly gains, egotism (ahamkara) arises - there is the feeling, “I am doing these sacred rites”. All actions, good or bad, result in bondage! Chains that bind may be made of gold or iron, but they are chains all the same! Hence the scriptures declare that realising God (Sakshatkaram) and attaining union with God (Brahma prapti) cannot be attained by rituals or good deeds alone. As they are external acts related to the body, they are not conducive to the development of your inner vision. Only when you are able to get rid of egotism and attachment, you can develop the inner vision. To realise the Divine always, the sense of duality must be eradicated. Perceiving divinity everywhere is Wisdom (Advaita Darshanam Jnanam)!

We are unable to realise God within us because we do not realise the soiled cover in which it is wrapped up. If our clothes get dirty, we change them because we are ashamed to appear in dirty garments. If our house is dirty, we clean it so that visitors may not get a bad impression of us. But when our minds and hearts are polluted, do we feel ashamed? Is it not strange that we should be so much concerned about the cleanness of our clothes or our homes, but are not bothered about the purity of our hearts and minds which affect our entire life? To purify our hearts and minds, the first thing we must do is to lead a righteous life. Our actions must be based on morality. Indulging in abuse of others or inflicting pain on them is not a sign of human nature. The evil that we do to others ultimately recoils on us.

Desires and willpower (iccha shakti), both emerge from thoughts. Willpower is very important, like the life principle of every human-being. All other powers like power of intellect, of understanding, of determination, of speech, etc., come out of it. This willpower is like the king of all other powers. It will lead one to the sacred path if one makes proper use of it. On the contrary, if one makes improper use of it, the person becomes wicked. Willpower affects your thoughts, and thoughts influence willpower. Bad thoughts make the willpower weak. Decline in willpower makes desires stronger and ultimately weakens you! Here is a small example. Suppose one person has the habit of drinking too much coffee or tea, smoking cigarettes, etc. will his bad habits not weaken his willpower and ability to accomplish great things? Hence develop good thoughts, good habits and practice ceiling on desires.

Swami's Prema (Love) has no trace of self-interest in it. It is absolutely pure. Swami knows only how to give, not how to receive. Swami's hand is held above for conferring something, not stretched for seeking anything. Moreover, once Swami has declared, "You are Mine", whatever wrong ways they may pursue, Swami will not abandon them. It may be asked why anyone who has been accepted by Swami thus should be subject to hardships and troubles. These troubles are the consequences of their own karma (actions). They have to see that their conduct is right. If, supposing, the Lord blesses a man with a hundred years of life, he should not get puffed up with pride and start jumping from a tree in the confidence that he will live for a century. He may live for a hundred years, but may have his leg broken in the fall. So in accepting the blessing of God, one should also try to lead a righteous l

When we are hungry, we eat food to satisfy our hunger! It takes about two hours for the food in the mouth to go to the stomach, get digested and yield strength and nourishment to the body. Similarly, there may be a time gap between actions and their consequences. A seed does not become a tree as soon as you sow it. The seed first germinates, becomes a sapling, and then grows into a tree in due course of time. The entire tree is within a tiny seed. You only see the seed, not the entire tree hidden in it. Similarly, you must remember that your future is contained in the actions performed by you in the present. You imagine your future and wait for it. There is no need to wait for it because your future lies in your present! Your present thoughts, words and deeds determine your future. Therefore make the present sacred, sublime, and purposeful.
