First, practise the attitude of “I am Yours”. Let the wave discover and acknowledge that it belongs to the sea. This is not easy. The wave takes a long time to recognise that the vast sea beneath gives it its existence. The ego is so powerful that it will not permit it to be so humble, as to bend before the sea. “I am Yours; You are the Master. I am a servant; You are sovereign. I am bound.” This mental attitude will tame the ego. The next step is: “You are mine”, where the wave demands the support of the sea as its right. The Lord must take the responsibility of guarding and guiding the individual. Surdas said, “You are mine; I will not leave You; I shall imprison You in my heart; You shall not escape,” and the Lord obliged! The last stage is: “You are I” — I am but the image, and You are the Reality. All is One. Duality is but delusion.

It is not as if there are no individuals in the world who are well versed in sacred texts like Bhagavatha, but whatever they may have learnt and whatever be their scholarship, if they cannot put into practice at least a fraction of what they have learnt, they will simply be wasting their time. All scholarship and knowledge is useless if it is not accompanied by practice. Think of this analogy: If a donkey carries some fragrant materials on its back, can it become an elephant? You may have the strength to teach others because you have learnt from so many books. However, whatever you learn will become utterly useless if it is not put into practice. Indeed, when thoughts, words, and actions are consistent, one is called a mahatma (a noble one). This is also described as ‘the proper study of mankind is man’.

Establish unity among yourselves first; do not seek faults in others or excellences in your own selves. The Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man - have full faith in this and fill every act of yours with that reverence and love. Wherever you are, whatever work you do, do it as an act of worship, an act of dedication, an act for the glory of God who is the Inspirer, the Witness, the Master. Do not divide your activities as, "These are for my sake" and "These are for God." See all work as one. When you work, there should be no remainder, nothing pending. Finish all, down to the last. They should not recur again. If you offer all activities at the feet of the Lord and free them from any trace of egoistic attachment, the consequence will not bind you: you are free, you are liberated, you have Moksha(liberation).

Food is the medicine for the illness of hunger; drink, for the illness of thirst; to cure bhava roga (affliction of the cycle of birth and death), God (Bhagawan) is the medicine; for the disease of desire, Jnana (wisdom) is the cure. For the infection of ashanti (anxiety), the remedy is bhajans. For the diseases of doubt, despair and hesitation, which is common to all aspirants, the most effective remedy is doing good to others (paropakara). Service today has become a common word but its value is much depreciated. Really speaking, only those who are afflicted with equal agony, at the sight of pain and suffering, distress or disease, have the right to serve; for, they are not serving others, they are serving themselves, serving to remove as fast and as intelligently as they can, their own agony! When you feel that you are serving your own pain, you are curbing your own ego. Otherwise service heightens your self-esteem and develops a sense of superiority, which is harmful spiritually.

Some may insist that only Sai Bhajan should be sung, only the name and form of Sathya Sai be used. This is a great mistake. You are thereby dishonouring Sai. If you attach yourself to Sai and detach yourself from Krishna, you get a plus there and a minus here; the resultant gain is zero. Do not develop fanaticism or sectarianism in spirituality. Others may have these, but that is no reason why you should meet them with the same failings. Try your best to avoid such infection. If others require help, go and help them! This will make them realise the loving universal nature of your attitude. Never encourage differences based on region, language, religion, or any such flimsy grounds. Narrow-minded ideas will undermine the spiritual outlook, the attitude of unity and oneness which is the keynote of the spirit. Spirituality is a field where inner joy, inner satisfaction, and internal purity are always more important than outer expression!

Train your mind to dwell on the inner equipment rather than the outer attractions. Use your mind to cleanse your feelings, impulses, attitudes, tendencies and levels of consciousness. Let it not accumulate dirt from the outer world and deposit them within itself. If it is attached to work, the consequences of work get attached to it. Unattached work is the purest; it does not encumber the mind with elation or disappointment. 'I did it', 'This is mine': these are the two fangs that make the individual poisonous. Pull out the fangs, the snake can be handled and played with as a pet! Every samithi and society must be vigilant to see that egoism and the sense of personal possession, pride or achievement, do not invade them. That is the goal to be kept in view.

Let the validity of Bharatiya culture be examined through actual living, and one's own discovery of its values; and communicated to others by those who have experienced the peace and joy derivable from it. I do not want the extolling of the drug by persons who have not been themselves cured by it. Today, in the very land where this culture grew and flourished, immorality and corruption have destroyed happiness and contentment. Many condemn these things, but those are the very persons who commit the wrongs they deplore. In the history of India, you must have noticed that all the great movements and empires were motivated by spiritual undercurrents, not by political or economic stresses. You must make politics subserve the need to promote and perfect the fundamentals of Bharatiya culture.

Dedicate all your thoughts and aspirations to God and surrender yourselves to the Will of the Divine. Surrender may appear to be difficult, but it is not so. It is in fact like keeping your money in the bank. You can withdraw money from your bank account whenever you need. Similarly, when you entrust all your concerns to Bhagawan, you can draw from Him whatever you need. What stands in the way of surrender? It is your ego, your possessiveness and lack of sufficient trust in the Lord! People desperately cling to their possessions saying: "My money, my house, etc.” Sometime or the other your wealth will go. But, once you truly surrender to the Divine, you acquire Lord’s grace. Grace, once earned, will protect you and satisfy all your needs. God does not need your wealth. He is always a Chitta Chora (stealer of hearts), not a vitha chora (stealer of wealth). It is you who must change from vitha choras to chitta choras.

You may be in the jungle, but your mind may wander in the market. Similarly, you may be in the market, but by sadhana (spiritual practices) you can secure calmness and peace in your heart in the midst of busiest thoroughfare. Your mind can build a silent refuge or tie you up into complex knots. It binds; it loosens bonds. You can sail safe on the sea of worldly life (samsaar), if you have no leaks in the boat; but through the leaks of lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride and envy (kama krodha, lobha, moha, mada and matsarya), the waters of the worldly life will enter the boat and it will sink, drowning you beyond redemption. Stop all the leaks! Then you need not fear to ride in the sea of samsara, you can benefit by all the chances it gives for training the senses, by widening your affection, deepening the experiences, and strengthening your detachment.

True Love is priceless with no trace of selfishness! It is pure, unsullied and does not change. It is spontaneous, always grows and never diminishes. God’s Love is of such a nature: spontaneous, free from selfishness, unwavering and always full. Ordinary human love, motivated by selfish considerations, is liable to change with changes in time and circumstance! Pure Love wears the mantle of Truth and will not submit to the forces of envy or hatred however powerful they may be. Love prevails over all negativities. In the pursuit of the good and godly life, you may encounter many difficulties and disturbances. Doubts and questions may also crop up. Only when you face difficulties squarely and bear troubles with patience and fortitude, you will understand Divine Love. Never allow yourself to be overwhelmed by difficulties and sorrows, doubts and disappointments. Have faith, confidence in yourself and strive to secure God's love. The transforming power of pure Love is boundless!

!!"ஜீவநாடி அற்புதங்கள்"!!

அகத்தியர் அருளும் "ஜீவநாடி" இருந்ததை போல், போகரின் ஜீவா நாடி ஒன்றும் அகத்தியர் அருளால் என்னிடம் வந்து சேர்ந்தது. பொதுவாக அதில், போகர் மருத்துவ முறைகளை பற்றியும், இன்ன வியாதிக்கு இன்ன மூலிகை என்றும் தகவல் தருவது வழக்கம். ஜீவ நாடி போலவே அதிலும் போகரின் வார்த்தைகள் தங்க நிறத்தில் வந்து போகும். அதை படித்து பலருக்கும் போகர் அருளால் மருந்துகளை கிடைக்க வழி செய்துள்ளேன்.

ஒருநாள் இரு இளம் வயது தம்பதியர் நாடி படிக்க வந்து அமர்ந்தனர். இருவரையும் அமரச்செய்து விஷயம் என்னவென்று விசாரித்தேன்.

"எங்களுக்கு திருமணமாகி சில ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின் தான் ஒரு குழந்தை பிறந்தது. அதற்கு இப்பொழுது இரண்டு வயது ஆகிறது. பிறக்கும் போதே உடல் நலக் குறைவுடன் பிறந்துள்ளது. "

"என்ன உடல் நலக் குறைவு?"

"ஒன்றரை வயதானதிலிருந்து திடீர் திடீர் என்று உடல் முழுவதும் நீல நிறமாகி விடும். உடனே, குழந்தையை வாரி எடுத்து மருத்துவ மனைக்கு தூக்கி சென்று சிகிர்ச்சை அளித்தால் வியாதி விலகி விடுகிறது. ஆனால் மறுபடியும் அந்த வியாதியின் தாக்கம் எப்பொழுது வரும் என்பதை எங்களால், மருத்துவர்களால் கணிக்க முடியவில்லை. எத்தனையோ மருத்துவ முறைகளை கையாண்டு விட்டோம். முதலில் மாதம் ஒருமுறை என்று வந்த உடல் நலக்குறைவு, இப்பொழுது வாரம் ஒருமுறை என்று ஆகிவிட்டது. கடைசியாக ஒரு மருத்துவரிடம் சென்ற போது அவர்தான் இந்த தாக்கம் எதனால் வருகிறது என்பதை கண்டுபிடித்தார். பிறவியிலேயே எங்கள் குழந்தையின் இருதயத்தில் ஒரு துவாரம் உள்ளதாம். அதனால் ரத்தம் பம்ப் பண்ணுவது சரியாக அமையாத நேரங்களில், பிராணவாயு குறைவால் உடல் நீல நிறமாகிவிடுகிறது. இதற்கு இரண்டு வழிதான் உள்ளதாம். ஒன்று குழந்தைக்கு அறுவை சிகிர்ச்சை செய்து பார்க்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் குழந்தை அறுவை சிகிர்ச்சையை தாங்குகிற அளவுக்கு உடலில் சக்தியை பெறவில்லை. அதனால் அறுவை சிகிற்ச்சை செய்தால் பலன் எப்படி வேண்டுமானாலும் அமையலாம் என்றார்".

"சரி! இரண்டாவது வழி என்ன சொன்னார்?"

"அந்த மருத்துவர் போகர் சித்தரின் மருத்துவ முறைகளில் மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கை உள்ளவர். அதனால், போகர் சித்தர் மனது வைத்தால் மருந்து மூலம் இந்த குழந்தையை பிழைக்க வைக்கலாம் என்றார். மேலும் அவர் உங்களிடம் போகர் நாடியில் போகரின் உத்தரவு என்ன என்பதை கேட்டு வரச் சொன்னார். தாங்கள் தான் போகர் நாடி படித்து எங்கள் பிரச்சினைக்கு வழிகாட்ட வேண்டும்" என்று வேண்டினர்.

போகரின் ஜீவநாடியை எடுத்து முறையாக பிரார்த்தனை செய்து "சித்தபெருமானே! இந்த தம்பதியரின் குழந்தைக்கு நல்ல சரியான ஒரு தீர்ப்பை வழங்குங்கள்" என்று மனதுள் வேண்டிக்கொண்டேன்.

நாடியில் வந்த போகர் பெருமான் இவ்வாறு சொன்னார்.

"இந்தக் குழந்தையை சிவபெருமானால் மட்டும் தான் காப்பாற்றமுடியும். இந்த குழந்தை காப்பாற்றப்பட வேண்டுமென்றால் அது, ஒரு வியாழக்கிழமை அன்று அலகானந்தா நதியில் மூன்று முறை மூழ்கி குளிக்கப்படவேண்டும். அப்படி குளிப்பாட்டும் போது சிவநாமத்தை உச்சரித்துக்கொண்டே இருக்கவேண்டும். கண்டிப்பாக சிவபெருமான் வந்து இந்தக் குழந்தையை காப்பாற்றுவார்" என்று கூறி உடனே மறைந்துவிட்டார்.

பொதுவாகவே போகர் சித்தர் கேட்ட கேள்விக்கு மிக சுருக்கமாக பதில் சொல்பவர். மருந்து எதையும் கூறாமல், குழந்தையை அலகாநந்தா நதியில் மூன்று முறை முக்கி குளிப்பாட்ட வேண்டும் என்று கூறியதை கேட்ட அந்த பெற்றோர்கள் அதிர்ந்து போய் விட்டனர். அலகாநந்தா நதி குளிர்ச்சிக்கு பெயர் பெற்ற ஒன்று. பெரியவர்களே அதில் ஒரு முறை நீராடினால் விறைத்து போவார்கள். அதிலும் இந்த குழந்தை ரொம்ப பலவீனமான இதயத்தைக் கொண்டு பிறந்துள்ளது. அந்த குளிரில் மூன்று முறை முக்கி எடுத்தால் என்னவாகும்? என்று நினைப்பு எனக்கு.

"இதை தவிர வேறு எதுவும் போகர் கூறவில்லையா?" என்று கேட்டனர்.

போகர் சொன்னதை கூறிவிட்டேன், மருந்து எதுவும் சொல்லவில்லை. அவர் சொன்னபடி செய்துவிட்டு வாருங்கள். கண்டிப்பாக நல்ல செய்தியுடன் திரும்பி வருவீர்கள்" என்றேன்.

சற்றும் நம்பிக்கை இல்லாமல் சோர்ந்த மனதுடன் எழுந்து சென்றனர் அந்த தம்பதியினர்.

இரண்டு மாதங்கள் வரை அவர்களிடமிருந்து எந்த செய்தியும் கிடைக்கவில்லை.

ஒரு நாள் சோர்ந்த முகத்துடன் அந்த தம்பதியினர் வந்தனர். அந்த குழந்தையின் உடல் நிலை நாளுக்கு நாள் மோசமாகி வருவதாகவும் அவர்களால் போகர் நாடியில் வந்து சொன்னதை நிறைவேற்ற முடியவில்லை என்றும் தெரிவித்தனர்.

"உண்மை தான். போகர் நாடியில் வந்து சொன்னதை சாதாரண மனிதர்களின் மன நிலையில் இருந்தால் நிறை வேற்ற முடியாது தான். சற்றே திட மான மன நிலையுடன் சித்தர் மீது நம்பிக்கை வைத்து காரியத்தில் இறங்குங்கள். எல்லாம் வெற்றி அடையும். சீக்கிரம் போங்கள்" என்றேன்.

"இன்னும் ஒருமுறைகூட போகரின் நாடி படித்து ஏதேனும் மருந்தை போகர் சொல்கிறாரா என்று பார்த்து சொல்லுங்களேன்" என்றனர் அவர்கள்.

மறுபடியும் நாடியை படிக்க முன்னர் சொன்னதே இப்பொழுதும் வந்ததை கண்டு மனம் தளர்ந்த அவர்களை நோக்கி,

"வியாதிக்கு காரணமான கர்மாவையே அழித்தவர் சிவபெருமான். உங்கள் குழந்தையை அவர் கண்டிப்பாக காப்பாற்றுவார். இனிமேல் அந்தக் குழந்தையை சிவபெருமானின் குழந்தை என்ற எண்ணத்துடன் தூக்கி சென்று, போகர் பெருமான் கூறியதை நிறைவேற்றுங்கள். நல்லதே நடக்கும்" என்றேன்.

அந்த தம்பதியர்களுக்கு என்ன தோன்றியதோ தெரியவில்லை;

"உங்கள் வாக்கை வேத வாக்காக வைத்து, இந்த நிமிடம் முதல் அந்தக் குழந்தை "சிவபெருமானின்" குழந்தை என்ற எண்ணத்துடன் சென்று நீங்கள் சொன்னதை நிறைவேற்றி விட்டு வருகிறோம்" என்று கூறி விடை பெற்றனர்.

இரு வாரங்களுக்கு பின் அந்த இருவரும் என்னை காண வந்தனர். கையில் அந்த குழந்தை நல்ல ஆரோக்கியமாக விளையாடியபடி இருந்தது. அவர்கள் முகத்தில் நிறையவே சந்தோஷம்; கூட நிறையவே புல்லரித்துப்போக வைக்கிற அனுபவங்கள். அந்த குழந்தையின் தந்தை நடந்ததை விவரித்தார்

போகர் சித்தர் சொன்னது போலவே ஹிமாலயத்தில் உள்ள அலகானந்த நதிக்கரைக்கு குழந்தையுடன் போய் சேர்ந்தோம். தண்ணீரின் வேகமும் அதில் உறைந்த குளிர்ச்சியின் வீரியமும் எங்களை அதிர வைத்தது. குழந்தையை எப்படி இந்த குளிர்ந்த தண்ணீரில் மூழ்கடிப்பது? என்ற யோசனை இருமுறை எங்களை தாக்கியது. மூன்றாவது முறையும் அந்த கேள்வி எங்களை தாக்கும் முன் சித்தர் சொன்னபடி இறைவன் நாமமான "நமச்சிவாய" என்பதை கூறிக்கொண்டே மெதுவாக ஒருமுறை பயத்துடன் முக்கினோம். என்ன நடந்தது என்று புரியவில்லை. பொதுவாகவே அப்படிப்பட்ட குளிர் உடலை தாக்கும்போது குழந்தை "வீ ல்" என்று அலறியிருக்கும். ஆனால் அந்தக் குழந்தை சிரித்தபடி அந்த நீரின் ஸ்பரிசத்தை விரும்பியது. அப்போது எங்கள் பக்கமாக நடந்து வந்த ஒரு சாது, "குழந்தையை என்னிடம் கொடுங்கள். நான் குளிப்பாட்டி பத்திரமாக திருப்பி தருகிறேன், கவலை வேண்டாம்!" என்று கூறி வாங்கி சென்றார்.

குழந்தையை வாங்கி சென்றவர் நாங்கள் நின்ற பகுதிக்கு நேராக சற்று ஆழமுள்ள பகுதிக்கு சென்று குழந்தையை பலமுறை நீரியில் முக்கியபின் சற்று அருகில் வந்து குழந்தையின் உடலை தடவி கொடுத்து, பின் தன நனைந்த வஸ்திரத்தின் ஒரு முனையிலிருந்து சிறிது விபூதியை எடுத்து குழந்தையின் நெற்றியிலும் மார்பிலும் தடவி, சிறிதளவு அதன் வாயிலும் போட்டு அதன் வலது காதில் எதையோ முணுமுணுத்துவிட்டு எங்களிடம் தந்தார். குழந்தை கிடைத்த வேகத்தில் அதன் உடலில் உள்ள நீரை துவட்டும் வேலையில் கவனத்தை செலுத்தியதில் அந்த சாதுவுக்கு நன்றி சொல்ல கூட மறந்துவிட்டோம். ஒரு நிமிட இடைவேளையில் நிமிர்ந்து பார்க்க அங்கே அந்த சாதுவை காணவில்லை. குழந்தையின் உடல் சூடு முன்னரை விட சற்று அதிகமாக இருக்கவே, குழந்தைக்கு எல்லாம் சரியாயிருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தில், ஊர் வந்து சேர்ந்து மருத்துவமனைக்கு சென்று பரிசோதித்ததில், மருத்துவர்களே அசந்து போய் விட்டனர். எங்கள் குழந்தையின் இருதயத்தில் இருந்த ஓட்டை முழவதுமாக அடைந்து போய் இப்பொழுது பம்பிங் சரியாக நடப்பதாக சொல்கின்றனர். வந்தவர் யார் என எங்களுக்கு புரியவில்லை. எப்படி குணப்படுத்தினார் எனவும் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் நீங்கள் சொன்னபடி நல்ல விஷயம் மட்டும் நடந்துள்ளது எங்கள் நன்றியை போகர் சித்த பெருமானுக்கு தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும்" என்றார்.

போகர் ஜீவ நாடியில் நடந்த அதிசயத்தைப் பற்றி கேட்ட பொழுது அவர் சொன்னார்

"இந்தத் திருவிளையாடல் சிவ பெருமான் நேரடியாக நடத்தியது. சித்தர்களுக்கே தலையாய சித்தர் தான் ஒரு திருவிளையாடலை ஏதோ ஒரு காரணத்துக்காக நடத்த விரும்புகிறார் என்றால், எங்களுக்கு அங்கே என்ன வேலை? சொன்னதை சொல்வதுடன் எங்கள் வேலை முடிந்தது. அதனால் தான் எந்த மருந்தும் அந்த குழந்தைக்கு விதிக்கப்படவில்லை. சில திருவிளையாடல்களுக்கு அர்த்தம் புரியாது. புரிந்துகொள்ளவும் முயற்ச்சிக்கக்கூடாது." என்ற உபதேசத்துடன் நிறுத்திக்கொண்டார்.

சிவபெருமானே நம்மிடை சித்தனாக உலா வருகிறார் என்பதை அறிந்த பொழுது உண்மையில் நானே அசந்து விட்டேன்.

Amongst the qualities that make up a flawless character, love, patience, forbearance, steadfastness, and charity are the highest, and must be revered. The hundred little deeds you indulge in everyday harden into habits; these habits mould your outlook towards life. All that you weave in your imagination, seek and yearn leave an indelible imprint on your mind and form a picture of ‘your world’ and then you get attached to it. But whatever is your character today, it can certainly be modified by changing your thought pattern. The wickedness of nobody is incorrigible. Wasn’t the robber Angulimala turned into a kindhearted person by Buddha? Didn’t thief Rathnakara become Sage Valmiki? You have within your reach, the capacity to challenge your own evil propensities and change them. By selfless service, renunciation, devotion and prayer, old habits can be discarded and new habits that take you along the divine path can be instilled.

God is not different from faith. Faith and God are one and the same. Love is God, Devotion is God - they are not different entities. What does devotion mean? Devotion is that which enables the unmanifest Divine Principle to manifest itself in the devotee’s inner vision. Then, for the pure devotee nothing exists other than God. To reach that stage you must discharge your duties keeping God in mind constantly. To cross the vast, deep ocean of worldly existence, you need the small boat of God’s Name. In the beginning of the spiritual journey, Lord’s name is the foundation for progress, but it should evolve gradually into loving service to God at all times. Whatever service you render, do not feel that you are serving others, but you are serving God Himself. Even while serving food to your family or to a needy person, consider that God has come in that form and you are offering it to God Himself.

For the Lord, this drama of time in three acts - past, present, and future is clear as crystal. In the twinkle of an eye, He grasps all three, for He is omniscient, and it is His plan that is executed, and His drama that is being enacted on the stage of creation. But, actors and spectators are lost in confusion, unable to surmise its development and meaning! For, how can one scene or act reveal its meaning? The entire play must be witnessed for the story to reveal itself – isn’t it? When the mystery is cleared and the play is discovered as ‘mere play’, conviction dawns that you are in Him and He is in you. Just as while eating you reject bad food, you must reject bad thoughts and take in only good and wholesome thoughts into the mind. Do not bear any ill-will towards those who may have done some harm to you. By returning evil for evil, how are you better than the other person? It is only when you do good even to the person that causes harm to you that you can show your better nature. Your face is the index of your mind. When you bear ill-will towards anyone, your enmity is reflected in your face and manners. When you entertain good and loving thoughts, your heart is filled with joy and you experience an upsurge of happiness. If you fill your heart with hatred, envy and pride, your life will become a dreary desert. On the other hand, if you fill your heart with love, your entire life becomes a saga of love.

Hence, use the body for performing sacred deeds and attaining bliss therefrom. When you share bliss with others, you will experience divinity. Continue your spiritual practices. But remain always suffused with the feeling that God is in you, above you, below you and around you. Never think that God is away from you. “I am not alone. A tree that has roots deep in the ground cannot be destroyed when its branches or leaves are cut off. Likewise, when evil qualities like hatred and envy have struck deep roots, they cannot be got rid off by striking at some branches. By suppressing bad thoughts intermittently, these evils cannot be eradicated. The mind has to be completely emptied of all bad thoughts to achieve real peace. Every bad thought must be rooted out the moment it arises in the mind. The war against bad thoughts is like the war against enemy hordes who attempt to get behind a fort through a subterranean tunnel. As one member of the enemy emerges from the tunnel, he should be struck down. Each one of the sense organs - the eye, the tongue or the ear - when it is influenced by a bad thought is led astray and behaves improperly. When they are influenced by good thoughts and impulses, they act in a manner which produces joy and contentment.

“Spiritual wisdom (jnana) is the panacea for all ills, troubles, and travails.” This is how the Vedas describe it. Who among people are in urgent need of medical treatment? Those who are badly ill, right? So too, those who are groping in ignorance are first entitled to the teaching and the training leading to the acquisition of spiritual wisdom. There are many paths to acquire this wisdom, and the chief among them is the path of devotion (bhakti). As the oil is to the flame in the lamp, so is devotion to the flame of spiritual wisdom. The heavenly tree of joy of wisdom thrives on the refreshing waters of devotion. Understand this well. It is for this reason that Krishna, who is the personification of divine love and who is saturated with the quality of mercy, declared in the Gita, “I am known by means of devotion - Bhakthya-mam abhijanathi”. Why was this declaration made? Because there are no hurdles in the path of devotion. Young and old, high and low, man and woman - all are entitled to tread it.

The mind seeks to acquire something with much effort in the hope that its possession will give pleasure. But the pleasure derived from it does not last long. And the sorrow caused by its loss is considerable. There is trouble during the process of acquisition. Possession confers only temporary pleasure. The loss of the object leaves a trail of misery. Very often the pain from loss exceeds the pleasure from gain. It is a futile waste of one's life to go after such transient pleasures. Realising the meaninglessness of such pursuits the sages practised self-control as the means to enduring happiness. They evolved the technique of turning the senses and the mind inward to seek the source of lasting bliss. Control of the mind is the means to moksha (liberation). Purity of mind is the primary requisite.

Without genuine and deep faith in God, it is utterly useless to master all 700 verses in the Gita; it is simply a burden on the memory. Reciting the Vedas, repetitive reading of scriptures, reading or listening to stories about great sages with superficial interest are at best, mental gymnastics, and have little spiritual value! It is only when you recite, study or listen to them with deep faith and earnestness that they begin impacting your thoughts and actions. They will then cease to become mere stories and become sources of inspiration and solace for transforming your own life. Draw the right lessons from the scriptures. Develop self-reliance to face the problems of life with competence and fortitude. Discharge your duty every day with devotion.

பெட்ரோல் டீசல் விலை நாளுக்கு நாள் ஏறிக்கொண்டே போகிறதே? கொஞ்சம் பொறுமையாக படியுங்கள் !

பலர் எனக்கு இன்பாக்ஸில் message அனுப்பி, மோடி ஏன் பெட்ரோலையும் டீசலையும் GST யில் சேர்க்கவில்லை? பெட்ரோல் டீசல் விலை நாளுக்கு நாள் ஏறிக்கொண்டே போகிறதே என்று கேள்வி கேட்க்கிறார்கள்

இதை சற்று விளக்கமாக எழுத விரும்புகிறேன்.. கொஞ்சம் பொறுமையாக படியுங்கள்

மன்மோகன் சிங் அரசு விட்டுச்சென்ற பொழுது (ஏப்ரல் 2014 ) நமது பெட்ரோல் விலை (சென்னையில்) கிட்டத்தட்ட ரூ 75.49 , இப்பொழுது சுமார் 76 ரூ.. ஏதோ பெரிதாக உயர்ந்துவிட்டதுபோல சித்தரிப்பது பொய்..ஆமாம், அப்பொழுது கச்சா எண்ணெய் விலை உலகளவில் குரைந்திருந்தது உண்மைதான், ஆனால் டாலர் விலை ஏறிக்கொண்டே போனது.. உடனே இங்கே சில அறிவு ஜீவிக்கள், ஏன் மோடி அரசு டாலர் விலையை குறைக்க முயற்சிக்கவில்லை என்று கேட்க்கிறார்கள்.. டாலர் விலை என்பது ஒரு நாடு நிர்ணயிக்கும் விலை இல்லை, கொடுக்கல் வாங்கலை பொறுத்து உலக செலாவணி சந்தையில் முடிவாகிறது..

அது ஒருபுறமிருக்க, மத்திய அரசும் excise வரியை உயர்த்தியது உண்மைதான்.. ஆனால் பெட்ரோல் விலையை பிரித்து பார்த்தல் இப்படி வருகிறது

அதை சுத்தப்படுத்தி, ஒரு இடத்திலிருந்து இன்னொரு இடம் கொண்டு செல்லும் செலவு ரூ 3

அதற்க்கு மேல் excise வரி 22 ரூ

32 + 22 = 55 ரூ

இதற்க்கு மேல் cess 2 ரூ = 57 ரூ

இதற்க்கு மேல் மாநில அரசின் VAT 34 % = 19 ரூபாய்

ஆகமொத்தம் 76 ரூ

ஆமாம்.. இது மிகவும் அதிகம்தான்... ஆனால் மத்திய அரசின் 22 ரூபாய் வரியில் 42 % மாநில அரசுக்கு கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.. ஆமாம்.. அதாவது கிட்டத்தட்ட Rs. 9.25..

ஆக மொத்தம் தமிழ்நாட்டு அரசுக்கு கிடைக்கும் வருமானம் 19 + 9.25 = 28.25 ரூ..

ஆக 12.75 காசுகள் மட்டும்தான் மத்திய அரசினுடையது

அவ்வளவு வருமானம் மாநில அரசிற்கு வருவதால்தான் மாநில அரசுகள் பெட்ரோலையும் டீசலையும் GST க்கு கீழ் வரவிட மறுக்கின்றன.. GST வரி என்பது மத்திய அரசு தன்னிச்சையாக முடிவு செய்வதல்ல.. மாநில நிதி மந்திரிகளின் கூட்டமைப்பான GST Council முடிவெடுத்து அதை மத்திய நிதியமைச்சகத்திடம் அனுப்பினால்தான் மத்திய அரசு அதை நிறைவேற்ற முடியும்.. ஆனால் மாநில அரசுகள் இது GST கீழ் வந்தால் தங்களுக்கு பெரும் வருமான இழப்பீடு ஏற்படும் என்று அதை தடுக்கிறது.. இதை முதலில் எதிர்ப்பது தமிழ்நாடு அரசுதான், ஏனென்றால் தமிழ்நாடு அரசுக்கு பெட்ரோல் வரி மற்றும் சாராய வரி இல்லையென்றால் திவால்தான் என்கிற நிதி நிலைமை...மத்திய அரசு இதை செய்ய தயாராகத்தான் உள்ளது.. ஆகவே நீங்கள் கேள்விகேட்க வேண்டியது மாநில அரசைதான்.. மத்திய அரசை அல்ல.. புரிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்

Demon Ravana discovered that the Lord (Rama) and desire (kama) cannot coexist in the mind. Develop steadiness in the recitation of the Name of God and in the worth of that Name. Then even if the whole world says, “Do evil”, you will refuse to obey; your system itself will revolt against it. Even if the whole world asks you to desist, you will insist on doing right. Your body is a temple of God; God is installed in every body, whether the owner of the body recognises it or not. It is God that inspires you to perform good acts and warns you against the bad. Listen to that Voice. Obey that Voice and you will not come to any harm.  You must cultivate four types of strength: of body, intellect, wisdom, and conduct. Then you become unshakable, and you are on the path of spiritual victory!

The rules and rites are the maids-in-waiting; the queen treats her maids with kind consideration and favour, no doubt, but if the ceremonies, which are only “servants” and “aides”, disregard the queen, they should be mercilessly dismissed. All the formalities and rituals in the temples must therefore subserve the glorification of the queen, which is devotion; this is the sum and substance of the dharma that must direct and govern all temples. Only then can individuals reach the goal.

Do not strive to acquire the status of a great person, always strive to become a good person. Greatness may induce one to do evil deeds but acts of a good person always stand out as ideals for others. Ravana was a great man. Rama is the example par excellence of a good man. Both were experts, but how different were their attitude! Ravana, though endowed with extraordinary learning, destroyed himself. The root cause for the destruction of his entire clan was his bad quality of ‘desire’. Hiranyakasipu, master of all five elements, was ruined by his evil trait of anger. Duryodhana was ruined by greed; he refused to give even five villages to Pandavas. All these examples of great people who destroyed themselves and their entire clan, teach that one evil trait is enough to cause ruin. Imagine how much worse a fate one will be faced with if one has all six evil qualities - lust, anger, greed, pride, envy, and hatred!

Country is not a mere piece of land; it is an assemblage of citizens. For countries to progress, its citizens must cultivate moral, ethical, and spiritual values. It is not possible for citizens and leaders to cultivate these values unless they practice them right from childhood! Life becomes meaningless if one does not take to righteous actions from an early age. Modern students are not able to refine their lives. So the parents and the teachers should play an active role in shaping the lives of the students. First and foremost, they have to enquire as to how the students can get rid of their evil tendencies. Just as a boulder becomes worthy of adoration and respect when it is carved into a beautiful idol by a sculptor, so also the students will become ideal citizens if they are brought up in the right environment. The teachers and parents are responsible for the good and bad in students.

Demon Ravana discovered that the Lord (Rama) and desire (kama) cannot coexist in the mind. Develop steadiness in the recitation of the Name of God and in the worth of that Name. Then even if the whole world says, “Do evil”, you will refuse to obey; your system itself will revolt against it. Even if the whole world asks you to desist, you will insist on doing right. Your body is a temple of God; God is installed in every body, whether the owner of the body recognises it or not. It is God that inspires you to perform good acts and warns you against the bad. Listen to that Voice. Obey that Voice and you will not come to any harm.  You must cultivate four types of strength: of body, intellect, wisdom, and conduct. Then you become unshakable, and you are on the path of spiritual victory!

Scriptures declare: Revere the mother and father as God. Mother’s womb is the birthplace of one and all, be it a commoner or the Avatar Himself. Therefore, adore the mother as God. Uphold her name and respect her. There is nothing greater than mother’s love. Mother’s words are always sweet. At times she may use harsh words, but they are meant only to correct you, not to hurt you. There may be a wicked child, but never a wicked mother in this world. Most modern youth do not care enough for their mother. They think they are highly educated and that the mother does not know anything. It is a great mistake to think so. Never look down upon the mother. A mother also should not force her children to accede to her wishes. She must guide the children on the righteous path through love and sincerity. She should aspire that her children be good, they need not be great!

Many people say that the world today is afflicted with sorrow, losses and difficulties. I do not subscribe to this view - indeed, they are just our illusion! In fact, there is no unrest or sorrow in this world. I just see peace everywhere. When there is peace in our heart, we will be able to witness peace all round. Unrest, sorrow, anger, and so on, are the reaction, reflection and resound of the state of our inner being.  Sorrows and difficulties, anger and unrest are of our own creation. They are not natural phenomena in the world. It is lack of love that is responsible for all the differences, arguments and conflicts in the world, especially in the present times. Love is the foremost quality of a human being. And faith is the basis for that love. In the spelling of the word Love, ‘L’ stands for ‘Lord’. Thus, Love truly originates from the Lord!

When good things are spoken you find it difficult to pay attention, but when demeaning and distracting things are said, your ears are alert! This is tragic! Be the master of your behaviour; do not be led away by the impulses of the moment. Be conscious always of what is good for you. Carry on your daily tasks so that you do not make others suffer or suffer yourself. That is the sign of intelligent living! Do not give way to fits of anger, grief, elation or despair. The confusion you exhibit is the result of dark and dull (tamasic) and emotional (rajasic) qualities. Be calm, unruffled and collected (satwic). The more you develop charity for all beings, contrition at your own faults, fear of wrong, and fear of God — the more firmly established you are in peace!

நாட்டில் மக்கள் தொடர்ந்து வெறுக்கும்படி ஊடகங்களால் எழுதப்படுபவர் திரு. நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்கள் மட்டுமே.(lutyens media).

அவர்கள்.2002 ல் குஜராத்தில் முதல்வர் ஆனது முதல் காங்கிரஸ் அவரை தொடர்ந்து தாக்கி கொண்டிருக்கிறது. ஆனால் அவர் எல்லா தடைகளையும் தாண்டி நாட்டின் மிகப் பெரிய பொறுப்பில் இன்று இருக்கிறார்.

அவரின் புகழ் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக வளர்ந்து இன்று உலக அளவில் மாபெருந் தலைவராக திகழ்கிறார். இவர் RSS(BJP) அமைப்பில் சாதாரண ஊழியர் என்ற நிலையில் இருந்து அரசின் முக்கிய பொறுப்பாக ராஜதந்திரியாக உருவெடுத்துள்ளார்.

2012 க்கு முன் இவரை தில்லியில் உள்ளவர்கள் ஒரு பொருட்டாகவே மதிக்கவில்லை. அவரிடம் பேசுவதைக் கூட அவமானமாக நினைத்தவர்கள் இன்று அவரை சந்திக்க துடிக்கின்றனர்/ காட்துகிடக்கின்றனர்.

Many grieve: “It is said that having the vision of a holy person (darshanam) destroys our sin (papanasam). Well, I have had darshan not once but many times, and yet, my evil fate has not left me and I am suffering even more than before.” True, you may have come and had not one, but several darshans, and you may have sowed fresh seeds secured from the Divine — seeds of love, faith, devotion, good company, Godly thoughts, remembering God’s name, etc. So you have learnt the art of intensive cultivation and soil preparation. You have just now sown the seeds in well-prepared fields of cleansed hearts. The troubles and anxieties you experience presently are the crop collected from your previous harvests, so do not grieve and lose heart. Everyone must consume the grain they’ve already stored from their previous harvests. Bear with it patiently, until the new harvest comes in!

A great painter once came to a prince and offered to do a fresco on a palace wall; behind him came another, who declared that he would paint on the opposite wall whatever painting the first one drew! The prince ordered a thick curtain in between the painters while they were painting. Both were commissioned to start the task. The second person finished his work the exact same moment the first one completed. The prince arrived, saw the fresco and admired it very much. Then he ordered the curtain to be removed, and lo, on the wall facing the fresco, was an exact duplicate of the picture that the first man had so laboriously painted! Exact — because the second painter polished the wall, making it a fine big mirror! Similarly, you must make your hearts clean, pure and smooth, so that the glory of the Lord might be reflected therein, and the Lord might see His own image on it.

Do not grieve that the Lord is testing you and putting you to the ordeal of undergoing the tests, for it is only when you are tested that you can assure yourself of success or become aware of your limitations. You can then concentrate on the subjects in which you are deficient and pay more intensive attention, so that you can pass in them too when you are tested again. Don’t study for the examination at the last moment; study well in advance and be ready with the needed knowledge, and the courage and confidence born out of that knowledge and skill. What you have studied well in advance must be rolled over and over in the mind, just previous to the examination; that is all that should be done. This is the pathway to victory.

Lord Buddha

Lord Buddha underwent great hardships to realise the truth that everyone was endowed with the same principle of Divinity. Many noble souls who were contemporaries of Buddha acknowledged His greatness. They said that Buddha experienced the truth that they were unable to realise. As Lord Buddha gave up all desires, he became an epitome of total renunciation. There was nothing in Him except love. He considered love as His very life-breath. He further taught that people should not have anger, should not find faults in others, and should not harm others as all are embodiments of the pure, eternal principle - the Divine. He urged people to have compassion towards the needy and help them to the extent possible, understanding and respecting the underlying principle of unity and Divinity in all. Never have narrow considerations that some are your friends, and some are your enemies. All are one, be alike to everyone. These are the most important teachings of The Buddha.
