Celebrate the immediately succeeding second by an honest effort to get lasting joy

Truly speaking, nothing new has happened today. Do not wait for the celebration of something new in Time until the minutes, the hours, the days, the months add up to a year. Celebrate the immediately succeeding second by an honest effort to get lasting joy. There is no touch of meanness in trying to get joy or Ananda. It is only the means that make it unworthy and futile. As a matter of fact, it is to fill himself with Ananda that man has come to this world, equipped with speech, mind, intelligence and conscience. Only man has the chance and the capacity among all living beings. But man has forgotten his goal and is wandering in the wilderness of trivial pleasures.

How to reach the right destination

The inner voice is another name for the Buddhi (intellect). Man is guided by this inner voice in the conduct of his life. Whenever problems arise, he awaits the directives of the inner voice. If satisfactory answers are not forthcoming from his inner voice, he will have no satisfaction in life. In other words, one’s satisfaction with the external world is a function of one’s satisfaction with one’s inner world, represented by the inner voice. Sometimes you hear people saying, "My conscience is not satisfied, or my conscience does not approve of this". Here, conscience refers to this inner voice. Only when you follow the dictates of your conscience can you reach the right destination.

Develop the love of God and realise the bliss that is beyond all words

Everyone should realise that to attain oneness with divinity is the goal of human life. Hence it is everyone's duty to develop faith in the Divine. With the growth of faith, if one leads a life devoted to Dharma (righteousness), Sathya (truth) and Neethi (justice), he will be achieving the purpose of life. When we practise Dharma, the Divinity in us will manifest itself spontaneously. The man who does not follow Dharma is a burden on the earth. It is more important to earn the grace of God than earn all the wealth in the world. Develop the love of God and realise the bliss that is beyond all words.

Devotion

In the discipline of Bhakti (devotion), one has to stand the test at the hands of the Lord. He has to hold on to the Lord's name at all times and under all conditions, without the slightest trace of dislike or disgust, bearing the ridicule and the criticism of the world and conquering the feelings of shame and defeat.

Life is a message

1 ) A Senseful story:

A Mechanic was removing the engine parts from a motor cycle, when he spoted a famous heart surgeon in his shop. He called the surgeon and said " LOOK AT THIS ENGINE. I OPENED IT'S HEART, TOOK THE VALVES OUT, REPAIRED AND PUT THEM BACK. SO WHY DO I GET SUCH A SMALL SALARY AND YOU GET A BIG ONE WHEN YOU AND I ARE DOING THE SAME WORK"

The Surgeon paused and whispered "TRY TO DO IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING"

2) Know yourself

Candle sizes may vary but they yield the same brightness। It is not the matter of our position। Its our ability that shine

3) DON'T COMPLICATE THE SIMPLE PROBLEMS IN LIFE

If 1 = 5

2 = 25

3= 125

4 = 625

5 = ?

Think before scroling down........

See the first line...

Don't complicate simple problems in Life

Thought for the day

To reach the stage of a Jnani (Knower of the Supreme), the preliminary steps are Karma and Upasana (righteous action and worship). Without following the paths of Karma and Upasana and succeeding in them, one can not become a Jnani, just as a student cannot acquire a degree without passing out of school. Before one becomes an adult, one has to pass through the stages of childhood and youth. It is idle for any one to claim that he is a Jnani, unless he has gone through the prior disciplines. The mark of a Jnani is perennial joy. It is for realizing the oneness of divinity that the three stages of action, worship and knowledge have been laid down in the Vedas.

The entire world is filled with love. The world is Love and Love is the world. In every human being, love is present as an effulgence which shines in his heart. Love is life and life is love. Love is an inborn quality in man. It is his very life-breath. Even as the power to burn is natural for fire, and the power to cool is natural for water, love is a natural trait for man. Without it, he ceases to be human.

Thought for the day

Only a person who has the attitude of Kshama (forbearance) can be considered to be endowed with sacred love. This cannot be learned from textbooks; nor can it be acquired from preceptors. It is only when we face problems and difficulties that this quality of forbearance and forgiveness has scope for taking root. When one is confronted with problems and difficulties, one should not get upset and become a victim of depression, which is a sign of weakness. Instead, one must confront the situation with an attitude of tolerance and forgiveness, without getting agitated or giving rise to anger, hatred and revengeful thoughts.

How to get liberation (Moksha)

Realize that you have within you the source of power, wisdom and joy. Assert that you are unconquerable and free, that you cannot be tempted or frightened in to wrong. So long as a trace of body consciousness persists in you, the search for God must continue. Do not get caught in the sticky tangles of the external world. Do not harden your heart through greed and hate. Instead, soften it with love. Cleanse it through pure habits of living and thinking. Make it your shrine, wherein you install and worship God. Then, you can enter the sacred precincts of Moksha (Liberation).

God is reflected in the medium of Nature

God can be realised only through love. God will not reside in a heart devoid of love, which is like a desert. Other paths develop conceit, separating man from man and man from beast. They contract and do not reach out, shrinking your awareness of the Divine. Love is expansion, and expansion is divine life.

Sow love – it will blossom as compassion and tolerance. It will yield the fruit of peace. God is reflected in the medium of Nature; in everything His image can be perceived.

Thoughts shape our Nature

We become what we contemplate on. When we fix our thoughts all the time on the evil that others do, our mind gets polluted by evil. When, on the contrary, we fix our mind on the virtues and well-being of others, our mind is cleansed of wrong and entertains only good thoughts. No evil thought can penetrate the mind of a person wholly given to love and compassion. Thus, our thoughts shape our nature.

The Grace of the Lord

You can call Me Premaswarupa (the embodiment of Love). Prema is the wealth I have and which I spread among all. I have no other riches. The Grace of the Lord is always flowing like the electric current through the wire. Fix a bulb and the current will illumine your house. The bulb is the Sadhana (spiritual practice) you perform, the home is your heart. Come to Me gladly; dive into the sea and discover its depth. There is no use playing in the shallow waters and lamenting that the sea has no pearls. Dive deep and you will secure your heart's desire.

Control the sense

The desires that cling to the mind are the blemishes that tarnish man's inner consciousness. Control the senses, do not yield to their insistent demands for satisfaction. When a corpse is placed on a pyre, and when the pyre is lit, both the corpse and the pyre are reduced to ashes. So too, when the senses are negated, the mind too disappears. When the mind disappears, delusion dies and liberation is achieved.

Unity in diversity

The Vedas deal with rituals and worship, which imply a dualism between the worshipper and the object worshipped. Vedanta spells out the principle of Adwaitha (non-duality). It is interpreted in different ways, but the real basis of the Adwaithik principle is Ekaatma Bhaava, the feeling that there is only one Atma pervading everywhere and none else. "Adhwaita Darshanam Jnanam" (Wisdom lies in the perception of oneness). The Upanishads preach this oneness, based on the concept of unity in diversity.

Worthless Coin

How sad it is that human life, precious as a priceless diamond, has been treated as a worn out, worthless coin! There is no use repenting after having wasted one's time without meditating on God, or practising any other Sadhana (spiritual exercise) to realise Him. What is the use of digging a well for water when the house is already on fire? To begin contemplation on God during the end of one's life is like beginning to dig the well when the fire is already raging on.

Give Joy to all by singing Bhajan

What is required is the transformation of the heart. All bad thoughts and feelings should be expelled from the heart. We should whole-heartedly participate in Bhajans. It should not be a mechanical ritual. Once your heart is filled with sacred thoughts and feelings, they will be reflected in your Bhajan-singing. Through your singing, you should give joy to all the participants.

Nature - Better Instructor

Nature is a preacher; life is a teacher. Knowledge is not to be derived from books alone. Nature is to be accepted as a better instructor. By its forbearance, unselfish bounty, patience and serenity, Nature is continually proclaiming its inherent and true role of the preacher of spiritual truths. Consider, for instance, a tree. It offers shade and distributes fruits to whoever approaches it. It bears no feelings of hatred or vengeance even towards those who cause injury to it. It seeks no reward from those who benefit from it. Everyone should learn this lesson in selfless service from the tree.

The Light of Wisdom

What is the meaning of the word 'Bha-ga-waan'? 'Bha' represents the divine effulgence. 'Ga' represents the quality of spreading and pervading. 'Waan' means the capacity and ability to spread and pervade. Hence, 'Bhagawan' means the only being with the capacity and ability to spread this brilliant effulgence. In fact, the Atma inside us is of this nature. However, man is unaware of this. Hence, the prayer "Thamaso Maa Jyotirgamaya" (lead us from the darkness of ignorance into the light of wisdom). This light of wisdom is essential for all humans.

God, who is embodiment of love, can be attained only through love.

God, who is the embodiment of love, can be attained only through love, just as the effulgent Sun can be seen only through its own light. There is nothing more precious in this world than Divine love. God is Gunaatheetha (beyond all attributes). Hence, His love also is beyond attributes. But, human love governed by Gunas (attributes) results in attachment and aversion. Love should not be based on expectations of reward or return. Love based on such expectations makes it a business deal. Love is not an article of commerce. It is not like a lending a loan and getting it back. It is a spontaneous offering. Pure love of this kind can emanate only from a pure heart.

Mother and Motherland are greater than Heaven

Love is the form of the Divine. The first impulse that emanated from man was Prema (Divine love). All other things came thereafter. Every child that is born, immediately develops love for the mother. Every child tries to recognize at the outset its mother and father. In the same manner, every individual should recognise the land of his birth and his Samskrithi (cultural heritage). One's nation and one's culture should be revered as one's parents. The nation is one's mother. One's culture is the father. This profound truth was proclaimed by Lord Rama when He declared: "Mother and the Motherland are greater than Heaven itself."

Thought for the day

Bharatiyas have been celebrating the Navarathri festival from ancient times as a mode of worship of Devi, the Divine as mother. They worship the goddesses Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati during these nine days. The significance of Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati has to be rightly understood. The three goddesses represent the three kinds of potencies in man: Ichchaa Shakti (will power), Kriya Shakti (the power of purposeful action), and Jnana Shakti (the power of discernment). Saraswati is manifest in man as Vaak (the power of speech). Durga is present in the form of energy and dynamism. Lakshmi is manifest in the form of will power. The body indicates purposeful action - Kriya Shakti. The mind is the repository of will power - Ichchaa Shakti. The Atma is the power of discernment - Jnana Shakti.

TamilNadu slowly turning into Bihar

My relative was traveling from Thiruvannamalai to Madurai by Bus. It was around 6.30 to 7 pm. He was wearing a diamond ring. The bus stopped at some shop near Tiruvannamalai so he stepped down from bus. Someone was standing near him. They made my relative’s finger numb using some injection or spray. Then they used some instrument to remove his diamond ring from his finger. He didn’t feel anything because of the numbness. But his finger was totally damaged. My relatives finger was torn out and his bone was dislocated. After that someone(a good guy) in the bus took him to the hospital. And now he is ok. This is a great shock that it happened in Tamilnadu. Is TamilNadu turning into Bihar?????

Listen to the words of wise

All religions have taught what is good, and everyone should lead a righteous life based on this knowledge. If the minds are pure, how can any religion be bad? All the religions are different paths leading to one and the same destination. All devotees should experience this truth and live up to it in their daily lives. They should lead righteous lives and thereby experience enduring bliss. Only then will their spiritual effort be fruitful. Listen to the words of the wise, purify your thoughts and concentrate your mind on God. God can be installed only in a pure heart. The aim of all Sadhana (spiritual practices) should be to purify the heart.

Mahathma

A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.

A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.

A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.

A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.

A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people.

A policy is a temporary creed liable to be changed, but while it holds good it has got to be pursued with apostolic zeal.

A principle is the expression of perfection, and as imperfect beings like us cannot practice perfection, we devise every moment limits of its compromise in practice.

A religion that takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them is no religion.

A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.

A vow is a purely religious act which cannot be taken in a fit of passion. It can be taken only with a mind purified and composed and with God as witness.

A weak man is just by accident. A strong but non-violent man is unjust by accident.

Action expresses priorities.

Action is no less necessary than thought to the instinctive tendencies of the human frame.

All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take.

All the religions of the world, while they may differ in other respects, unitedly proclaim that nothing lives in this world but Truth.

Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.

An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.

An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.

An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.

Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.

Anger is the enemy of non-violence and pride is a monster that swallows it up.

Are creeds such simple things like the clothes which a man can change at will and put on at will? Creeds are such for which people live for ages and ages.

As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world - that is the myth of the atomic age - as in being able to remake ourselves.

----- Mahathma Gandhiji .........

Thought for the day

One's selfish needs have to be sacrificed. There must be constant effort to do good to others. One's desire should be to establish the welfare of the world. With such feelings in one's heart, one must mediate on the Lord. This is the right path.

Equipped with these, man can scale great heights and emerge victorious. However, one has to be warned against cultivating too much faith in things that are merely material. One has to root it deep in the eternal Truth, God. Faith is power. Without faith, living is impossible. We have faith in tomorrow following today. That is what makes us take up activities that extend beyond this day. People with no faith cannot plan; they court misery by their want of faith.

Thought for the day

You do not see the foundations of a skyscraper. Can you, therefore, argue that it simply sits on the ground? The foundations of this life are laid deep in the past, in lives already lived by you. This structure has been shaped by the ground plan of those lives. It is the unseen foundation that decides the structure and design of the entire edifice.

Thought for the day

You have to busy yourselves with activity in order to use time and skill to the best advantage. That is your duty, and duty is God. The dull and the inert (Tamasic) will hesitate to be active for fear of exhaustion or failure. The emotional and passionate individuals (Rajasic) will plunge headlong, craving for quick results and be disappointed when results do not come in as expected. The persons with balance of mind (Sathwic) will be active, considering it their duty; success or failure will not disturb their equanimity. The godly will take up activity as a means of worshipping God. They leave the fruits of their efforts to God, as they know they are but instruments in His hands.

Vallalar

At Cuddalur, one Ayyasamy Pillai, son of Vedanayakam Pillai was seriously bed ridden with disease. Death was awaited at any moment. His father who was a devotee of the Vallalar became anxious and helpless. Vallalar ( who was then giving a discourse at Vadalur a fact which was later verified) came and knocked at his door. The door was opened. Vallalar sat near the patient, applied sacred ash on his forehead and in a short time made him open his eyes and sit on the bed. Then he left. The next day the father took his son to Vadalur in a cart. They came to know that Vallalar was giving discourse at Vadalur throughout the previous night, when he had also visited them at Cuddalur and spent some time attending the patient. Vallalar told them that what took place yesterday was play of the Divine and requested them not to divulge it. The father and son were moved with surprise and surging waves of love and gratitude for the grace of the Vallalar.

An old woman of Kongara Palayam village aged 96 years suffered from a nervous shaking of her body. She saw Vallalar and by his darshan she got cured.

Vallalar cured leprosy by giving sacred ash to patient, the maternal uncle of Purushottama Reddiar of Karungkuli village.

Never be a spy.

Never be crazy.

Thought for the day

The world is one vast community. Every individual in it is a part of this community, bound to it by the bonds of love. This love is there, deep in the heart of every man. It is the Vishwa-Prema (all encompassing love) that flows from one spark of the Divine to all other sparks. When the eyes shine illumined by the highest wisdom of Jnana, they see all as the One. Man realises that Sarvam Brahmamayam Jagath (the entire universe is pervaded by Brahman). To have this One revealed as in All, one has to develop faith and discipline the mind. The mind has to shed its fancies and foibles; the Truth has to be known and experienced.

Thought for the day

When an individual seeks fulfilment outside himself, he fails; if he seeks it within himself, he is successful in obtaining it. The divine principle within us is always accessible and always responsive. Pain is felt only as long as attachment or aversion to outer forms remains. Ultimate relief from pain can come only by the effacement of the ego, by the elimination of that which reacts to one thing as pain and to another as pleasure, and whose memory and conditioning sustains the recognition of the dualities of joy and grief.

Thought for the day

No object in the world can be without a creator. Everything we use in our daily life has been made by someone. But, there are also objects which are beyond the capacity of humans to create. The stars which twinkle in the sky, the sun and moon that illumine the whole world, all these demonstrate the existence of a superior power. These are not human creations. Have they come into existence by themselves or have they been created by some invisible force? The supreme power which has the capacity to create such marvels has been described by the Vedas as Aprameya, one who is beyond all proofs and all limitations. He cannot be described in words. The primary object of man must be to seek to understand this Infinite Power.

Buddha Quotes

A dog is not considered a good dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man because he is a good talker.

A jug fills drop by drop.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.

All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.

All wrong-doing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed can wrong-doing remain?

Ambition is like love, impatient both of delays and rivals.

An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.

An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

Thought for the day

When boring is done to draw water from the bowels of the earth, the pipe has to be kept free of air so that the water will rise up. If the air enters, the water cannot rise up in the pipe. So too, be sure that attachment to worldly things does not mar your spiritual effort. Love will not rise up if sensual pleasure or personal pride invade the mind.

Happy Onam

This day is the sacred day when the Lord as Vamana Avatar conferred liberation on Emperor Bali. Bali was a great emperor. He loved his subjects and looked after their welfare. Poverty was unknown in his realm. He felt proud about his kingdom and his people, and thus suffered from a slight sense of ego. Lord Vamana incarnated to eradicate the undesirable quality of ego in Emperor Bali by effacing even this pride and thereby redeem him. Before leaving for the nether world, Bali gave a promise to his people, whom he loved dearly. He said that he would visit them every year on the day of Onam and bless them.

Thought for the day

Man must always proceed towards 'Balam' (strength); he should not take to untruth, wickedness and crookedness, all of which denote the fundamental trait of cowardice. This cowardice is born out of accepting an inferior and false image of oneself. You believe that you are the husk, the outer covering. But, truly you are the kernel, the core. This false identification is the fundamental mistake. All Sadhana (spiritual effort) must be directed towards the removal of the husk and the revelation of the kernel. So long as you say "I am so and so", there is bound to be fear, but once you say and feel "I am God", you get unconquerable strength.

Thought for the day

For establishing oneself in the contemplation of the omnipresent Lord, there are no limitations of time and place. There is nothing like a holy place or auspicious time for this. Wherever the mind revels in the contemplation of the Divine, that is the holy place. Whenever it does so, that is the auspicious moment.

Thought for the day

Like the wind that covers everything with dust, desires and attachments cloud the mind. They have to be kept away so that the splendour of the self might merge in the splendour of the Higher self, the Paramatman (God). The process of purifying the consciousness of man in the crucible of single-pointed thought, speech, feeling and activity directed towards God, will rid him of all blemishes and defects. When the inner consciousness has been rendered pure and unsullied, God will reside therein. Then man will experience the vision of God within him.

The top five cancer-causing foods

1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate

2. Processed meats, bacon found in burgers
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams, may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.

4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams.

5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats

Effects On Cold Water

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks - You should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.

You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

instrument of death

Please be extremely carefull......
A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home. Just at that time a call Came in and he answered it with the Instrument still connected to the outlet.

After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death.

Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!

Thought for the Day

One's actions decide one's destiny. It is of no avail to blame others for one's misfortune and misery. Nor is it correct to blame God as being partial or cruel. When one plants the seed of a bitter fruit, one can only expect a bitter fruit to grow. God is only a witness to the chain of causes and consequences. The way to escape this predicament is by dedicating every act to God in a spirit of detachment.

Thought for the Day

Be thankful to the Lord that He gave you Time, as well as action to fill it with. He gave you food, as well as hunger to relish it. But, that does not entitle you to engage yourself in action without discrimination. When you build a house, you install a door in front to admit all who are welcome and keep out those are not. You do not keep the doors wide open for all and sundry to come in as and when they please. Similarly, screen the impulses and motives that enter your mind; keep out the demeaning, the debasing, the deleterious. Admit only the highest wisdom of the scriptures, the wisdom culled out of the crucible of the experience of the ancient sages.

Thought for the day

The supreme message of the life of Lord Sri Krishna is the uniqueness of the Prema Tattwa (Principle of Love). This message is all the world needs. Krishna is the embodiment of love. This love can be understood only through love. It is strong, brilliant and unbreakable like diamond. It is extremely precious. If you want to secure such divine love, your love for God must be equally strong. You can cut diamond only with diamond. Love begets love. Hatred can only beget hatred. Jealousy begets jealousy. Anger breeds anger. Therefore, if you want to foster love, you have to get rid of hatred, jealousy and anger.
