Some fascinating facts - Body facts





The longest bone is the femur or the thigh bone. An adult femur is about 51 cm long.
The longest muscle is the sartorius, which runs from the pelvis to just below the knee.
The strongest joint is the hip joint.
The strongest bone is the shin bone. It connects the knee to the ankle. It can support upto 1600Kg of weight.
The smallest bone is the stirrup in the ear.
The smallest joint is in the ear, between the stirrup and the anvil - the bone next to it.
The smallest muscle is the stapedius muscle in the middle ear. It is less than 1.27 mm long.
The biggest muscle is the gluteus maximus, located above the thigh.
The liver and kidneys have the highest temperature.
The largest internal organ is the liver. It can weigh between 1.2 and 1.5 kg in an adult.
The longest nerve is the sciatic nerve, stretching from the base of the spine to the knee.
The fastest muscles are the muscles which blink our eye lids.
The hardest substance is the enamel, the white outer layer of the teeth.
A new born baby has nearly 300 bones. Some of them fuse to form 206 bones in an adult.
Humans have more than 600 muscles, but an average sized caterpillar has over 2000!
