In the drama of life, there is a mixture of good and bad.

In the drama of life, there is a mixture of good and bad. Of the two, one is known as maarakam and the other is known as taarakam. Maarakam implies that one acts on the basis that nothing belongs to oneself and all words one utters or whatever action one does - all belong to God. One plays one’s role in this spirit, ascribing nothing to oneself. Taarakam represents the attitude of the actor, conscious of the role one is playing and doesn’t forget individuality in one’s actions. One doesn’t consider oneself as merely acting but regards oneself as the doer! The difference between the two is that while maarakam attitude helps realise the temporary nature of the role one plays and one remains not attached to things connected with the role, the other (taarakam) develops attachment to the role one plays and doesn’t wish to part with things connected with the role! The concept of maarakam has no sense of possessiveness. But in taarakam, one is attached to what one considers as one’s own!
