Thought for the Day

Consider the food you eat - it is Shivam (auspicious), when you consume it intelligently and in moderate quantities. It becomes Rudram (fierce), devastating in its effects, if consumed with greed and in inappropriate proportions. In fact, every thing or thought that obstructs the surge of divine bliss (Ananda) in any such situation, experience, or idea is Rudra; every step towards limitation, regulation, control, progress and sublimation is Shivam (auspicious, fruitful, beneficial). It is desire which haunts an individual that makes one’s food a boon or a bane. It is the mind that decides the desire and directs it. A sharp knife can be used for slicing a fruit or for stabbing. In the hands of a surgeon, it can save a life, rather than destroy one. Never forget that your own mind can liberate you from bondage or bind you more tightly with the objective world. Listen to the Omnipresent God present as the Inner Motivator within you and allow Him to guide you!
